I'm rebuilding a crashed C350.
Can't figure out what this part is?
This plastic part with a switch and a 2 wire plug is in the same wiring harness loom as the crash sensor that's attached to the front bumper.
It is located in the headlight bucket area on the passenger side. I think there's supposed to be one on the driver's side also. All that's left on the driver side is the 2 wire plug.

yes it is.
In a pinch situation... you could bypass one of the 2 sensors or both... they serve as input for security-alarm and to disable the wipers when hood is not shut.
Furthermore the exposed harness connectors are barely waterproof so you want to silicon these connectors to your hearts content.... all of the under hood connectors and bumper related... liberaly waterproofed.
If you have "blind spot" bumper radar sensors the rear one need waterproofing ASAP!
