Gas smell w204
Hi I have a C250 w204, were im experiencing strong gas fumes in the cockpit.
I think it comes through the AC, because when i use the recirculation button the gas smell suddenly stops.
No visible leaks
Where could it come from?
Regards

Im not too familiar with the C250s but if I remember correctly they have high pressure fuel pumps, which would be located on the back of the engine near the fire wall.. Ive read some owners report gas smell and its due to either a faulty high pressure fuel pump or the lines/fittings going bad on them. Open the hood, does it stink of gas? Look around the fuel line for any leaks. Also the fuel tank is right under the rear seat, have to remove the rear seat to get to it. Sniff around back there to see if theres a strong gas smell, if not thats probably not the issue. I also remember something about an extended warranty on the high pressure fuel pumps, not sure if a strong gas smell is a result of that though.

Thanks for the fast reply and help
I've checked under the rear seats and the sensors looks fine and doesn't smell.
After following the fuel pipes around i found a crack/cut on what looks like the "turbo" hose.
Im gonna change the hose and hopefully this solves the issue.

I remember coming across people having the same hose breaking and having gas fumes as a result. Looks like the replacement part can be expensive, some people got creative with the repair.
