Transmission Fluid vs. transmission oil?

I had transmission service for my 7G-tronic transmission done (2014 C-Class) a few months ago at the dealer and on the work invoice, it showed "AULW Transmission Oil: 28.75." Directly beneath that entry, it read, 'FULW Transmission Fluid. 85.00". I thought "transmission fluid" and "transmission oil" were interchangeable terms for the same thing. If so, why would they mention two different items. Or are transmission fluid and transmission oil different and serve a different purpose?

Not sure since I provided my own parts and the dealer did the labor. There is only one type of fluid used for the tranny. Is your car 4matic or RWD.

You can always ask the dealer...

I bet...
one line item is the labor service charge
and the next is for the actual ATF supplies
and for misc parts gasket, strainer, washer
another line would be for disposal fees

Post the service invoice here. Redact your personal information.

Oil and fluid are one and the same.
