Coils and sparkplugs

Hello everyone, this is my second time posting on here and was wondering where and what brand coils and spark plugs are very reliable, good, and high quality coils and spark plugs?

I would go on fcpeuro.com and buy their kit.good plugs are NGK, wouldn’t use a different brand except OEM which I believe ARE NGK. I use the OEM plugs anyway. Why replace the coils? Unless they’re high mileage I probably wouldn’t bother. I’m 100k on originals. But you can buy the plug tubes(?), our coils are 2piece. Also, put a little die-electric grease on the inside of the plug tubes. Just a little, enough to lightly coat the surface. You only want the ceramic part of the plug to touch it. Makes pulling the coils easy on the next change.

What year and engine are we talking about? Your model code (e.g., 204.081) would be helpful to know.

If your car has direct injection, you MUST use spark plugs that are genuine or OE, such as NGK specific to your car. DI engines require the spark plug to be indexed to the fuel injector, otherwise engine damage may occur. Please read the attached document!

I found for my 2015 SL400 (M276 bi-turbo) that NGK 96427 plugs indexed properly (i.e., within 45° of the fuel injector). I got mine from RockAuto. Watch this YouTube video, as well. With regard to coils, I replaced the ones on my 2014 C350 as a precaution. I used Bosch coils. The part number for my engine was 2769061101.

My Operators Manual for my 2010 C300 4matic says "Bosch Y 7 MPP33" for the spark plugs. Look in the back of your manual under Vehicle Specifications to see what it says.

For coils id say go with Bosch also, or Mercedes if you want to.

Go to www.lastvin.com and enter your VIN. You will get the data card for your car. At the top, there will be the year, make, model of your car. Next to the model, your model number will be in parenthesis and will be formatted as (204.XXX).

So, you do have direct injection. Therefore, you need to pay particular attention to the indexing of your spark plugs. Read my attachment above and watch the video.

???
If you have an M271 engine, then you should have a C250 and in the U.S. those didn’t come in 4matic. Pop the hood and post a pic. M271, M272, M276 have distinctly different engine covers. Then we can provide useful advice.

Good catch. Certainly not a C300 with a M271 engine.

Same thing as before.

If you don't know, FCP Euro offers lifetime replacement of parts. Buy from them this time and the next time you buy, return the first parts for a refund.
