I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what this sound could possibly be. I will admit, it sounds a lot worst in the video and not that loud in person but still noticeable. While inside, I can hear and mostly annoying. No check engine light on and car runs fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to remove security restrictions from the file.
Without hearing the video, please understand that a CEL should NEVER be relied upon to think everything is all right. CELs are only for emissions-related faults. Get a proper scanner and scan your car. The LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ is a favorite. Currently about $190 on Amazon.

Just fixed permissions. Thanks for the heads up and that scanner looks good. Im new to MB's so thank you for this. Will look into it!

Make sure your dipstick is fully inserted into the tube. Though I haven't had it happen on my SL400, occasionally on my C350 (non-turbo, 3.5 L version of your engine) the dipstick will pop up enough to cause it to sound like the engine is coming apart. Push it in and the sound goes away.

My cls400 sounds like this. There has never been anything inherently wrong with the engine, and I have xentry as well as icarsoft. There aren't any codes.
Like you said, it's annoying from the outside if the hood is up or the sound is bouncing off a wall/other car nearby. I understand it's direct injection, and the soundproofing is pretty good inside and with the hood down, but still not great.
I'll try and poke around again in xentry and see if anything pops up but I've just come to assume it's not a quiet motor.

If you are referring to iCarsoft, DON'T. While it is a reasonably good scanner, the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ is MUCH better with more capability. They are priced about the same. I was a long-time fan of iCarsoft, but have switch to LAUNCH.

Might be because of you (in a good way : ) the price of the scanner seems to be at 189 from 149, maybe forum members are clearing the stock on amazon?
