2011 MB C300 3.0L V-6
Location of oil pressure sending unit

Hello!

First time on this site. I'm looking forward to using this forum. I own two MB C300's which I really like. The one I have an issue with is a 2011 C300 Classic, aspirated gasoline powered 3.0L V-6. I got a amber alert (not a check engine light) indicating a problem with my oil pressure sensor sending unit. My diagnosis tool indicated that was a common problem for this 2011 model of MB. I ordered the part per a the VIN number. I could not find the location of where this part is under the hood. I'm wondering where it is located. Close to the oil filter perhaps? I'm retired at this point in my life so I've got the time do it. Perhaps some one can direct me with a good manual on MB.I wouldn't mind a good publication with an engine schematic for my 2011 C300.

Thanks

Do you know your engine model? You can enter your VIN here to get all the info about your car when it was built. I know my cars with the M276 engine (3.0L turbo and 3.5L NA) do NOT have oil pressure sensors/senders, as well as their V8 siblings. However, there is a port on the filter housing that is used to measure oil pressure with a pressure gauge for diagnosis purposes. If you do have an oil pressure sensor/sender, check on the oil filter housing (or timing chain cover).

WRT the factory service manual, it is called the WIS (Workshop Information System). The EPC is the parts catalog. You can get boot-legged copies on eBay which require running on a virtual machine under Windows. However, if you plan to do a lot of DIY servicing, you will eventually need a copy of XENTRY (STAR Diagnosis System -- SDS), which is the factory scan tool. I recommend you contact @BenzNinja at www.benzninja.com and do it right from the beginning. BenzNinja is a sponsor on these forums and you will see his postings on the forum page.

EDIT: See my next posting below.

From the WIS, this shows the location of the oil pressure test port (top left picture). See the attached document, as well.

Are you sure you didn't mean the "oil level" sensor?

Based on where the WIS instructs to measure the oil pressure, there is no pressure sender on the diagram. The oil pressure measuring port is in the vicinity of the red circle.
