Proper tail light gaskets
Hello everyone.
So I come too you all with another issue. I had a trunk lid seal rip and got water in my trunk. After fixing the seal and reading I noticed that allot of people saying the tail light gaskets are a potential point for a leak too. So I ordered some thru my favorite MB dealer online. They sent me the incorrect gaskets and after communicating with them for a few weeks now they are having trouble finding the correct part number for my gasket.
So I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and maybe knows the correct part number that I need? Pictures of my taillight andd gasket and the gaskets that they sent me.
Thank you to anyone who can help.
Robert

That number looks like the correct part number, but wrong gasket? Packaged wrong?
And its not like they gave you a gasket for the earlier 09-11 style W204 tail lights since those look different also.

Hmmm. They told me after I called telling them the first set was not correct that they ordered three more sets and they all have come with the same gasket on the bag. The parts guy agrees with me that it looks like it is not the correct gasket but he's out of ideas on how to find the correct ones. He said maybe they only come with the tail light which is crazy but possible I suppose.
Might have to get me some foam and cut out my own gaskets. But I'll do some more online digging first.

Theres not many photos online to see and compare. I did find a listing on ebay showing a gasket with Mercedes part# on it.
I have to swing by my local MB parts dept probably tomorrow, ill ask if they have the gasket in stock to look at.

TinC300 I think you have saved me again. I sent those part numbers on to my dealer so they can order them and compare them to mine. I believe you have found the correct one and I cantt thank you enough.

I got excited and leaped before I looked butt the gaskets you found on eBay have the same part number as three gasket that they sent me and that I posted picture of above. I probably won't hear from the dealer till tomorrow but I do have my fingers crossed.

I think the bag is not labeled right. The wrong gasket is in that bag and does not match the part #.
The gasket on your car is 2048260191.
I have no idea what car the gasket you were sent goes to. I searched thru photos online or all model Mercedes tail light gaskets to see what that gasket goes to and cannot find it.
I looked at photos of both early and late model year W204's and none of them fits that gasket, I even looked at GLK tail lights since it the 204 label.
Ebay is confusing because I think most listings have the incorrect part # for the gasket. The parts diagram for the early model W204 shows two part #'s, 2048260091 and 2048260191. The 2048260091 is for the early models with halogen bulbs, the 2048260191 is for the led type later years.
When I look up your model by VIN it only has the 2048260191 gasket since you have a later model led tail light. I posted your parts diagram for the tail light above, showing only 1 part #.
Heres the parts diagram for my car, earlier model W204. It could have come with regular halogen or the led tail light, so 2 part #'s to choose from:

Wow more great info thank you.
I agree that the auction you found sure does look like the gasket I need. If you do find the correct gasket at your dealer please all if they ship and I'll bitty from them since they know what I want. I believe everyone around me wants paid up front for ordering anything even these $6 gaskets. Don't wanna maker then get stiffed and go out of bushes.

3rd day in a row now the MB dealer near me is claiming computer issues and they cant even look up parts for me. I stopped in there anyways to have my high mileage award filled out and the guy at the parts dept said something about there system being hacked, who knows. So I wasnt even able to see if they had the gaskets in stock to look at and I wasnt even able to order parts since they cant process payments. I did manage to get an oil filter.
Im wondering what the marking on it means.

Wish I could have picked them up locally at the MB dealer near me and I would have mailed them to you. They are still telling me there computers are not working and I have a list of things to get.
