Official w204 thread - Updated 01/17/07 (Last page - Official Press Release)
The interior is really the weak spot in this car. The doors look lifted exactly from an ML: the speakers with chrome surrounds, lock swithces, and window controls. The flip up COMAND screen is interesting, but I will have to see it in person. I don't really see the point since you need the screen for all audio and nav functions so it really would be up any time the car is on so why not make a fixed screen? (Just another item to break.) Also I noticed in previous pictures that were released there are no retractable headrests. WTF is Mercedes thinking!?!? Those head rests are an iconic Mercedes thing! Everyone gets a kick out of that when they are in my car and it really is useful too.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Why not put a single large screen in the Instrument Cluster, and let me display what is of interest to me, speedo, oil pressure, navigation, or internet ****. Is anyone else annoyed with the rotary mouse gadget on a lot of luxury cars? How about Mercedes adds a fast fifty bucks, and give me some individual switches? If I want to open the sunroof, don't make me tune the radio to "Breezy 98" first.
The seats on the new C look to be a bit beefier, better to fit my tutonic backside in greater comfort.
I wonder if there is going to be any new mechanicals for the NAFTA market, or is it just a new fashion exercise?

edit: thanks to admin for merging the thread. these w204 topics area getting out of hand when members create a new one just to ask a dumb question instead of adding to this "Official thread".

That press release was published on media.daimlerchrysler.com. It is DCs press material section, but anyone can sign up. If you don't already have a username, I highly suggest you go there and get one. It's filled with thousands upon thousands of high res photos and press releases about Mercedes and Maybach from about 1999 to present. There was no link below however as the press release stated. Maybe they will update that tomorrow. I will post if I find out anything further.
It seems like Mercedes is really going all out with the launch of this car. I mean first they released pictures last week of the car undergoing testing but still heavily disguised, now the "leaked" brochure, and a big event on the internet. I just hope the effort they put into the development of the car is as extravagant.
i thought that the W203 was a total revolution in terms of branching out off from the W202 styling, but the new W204 seems to be more of an evolution.

Interior has a lot of real chrome and wood. Chrome around the window switches, around speaker grills. There is chrome at the top and bottom of teh navigation screen. I mean there is chrome all over the car. Wood is also sprinkled well. Even the dome lights look very high quality. The dials look very nice sorta remind me the Aston Martin dials. The light switch looks to be very similar from the S Class. Even the gear box looks very nice, they could definitly improve on the stick.
The indicator stalk and the cruise control stalk have the nice touch of the chrome and reflecting plastic similar to the new M,E,S .
Ok the location of the Nav screen. I think it is perfect. If they did what they did in the S-Class it would have been really fugly why ? C is a much smaller car. So the design flow of the second NAV screen and the hood would look really bad think about it.Also the location of the NAV screen is at the perfect eye level of the driver. Also better dust protection if the screen goes away when you park.
BTW here is the unoffical feature list.
Color Display standard (COMMAND from the SClass)
Bluetooth
Distronic
Keyless Go
Sport mode button dont know what this does ?
Aston Martin type speedometer dials very nice touch.
Hard drive based navigation system.
3 zone climate control
Panorama roof
The choice of adding wood or brushed aluminum to the cockpit
Multicontour seats
E-class suspension with adaptive controlled system
7GTronic automatic transmission
PRESAFE and Xenon with ILS
Bigger interior and bigger trunk
I took all this info from some of my posts and other posts on GermanCarZone.com . The first photo was posted by cawimmer430 mod for german car zone. and the second photo posted by Alwing. Dial image posted by ree. Again there are a lot of photos on www.germancarzone.com
