Based on that last World Car Fans spy photo, I would order a W204 as long as it's as good a car as my 2006 C350. My C350 is the best overall car I have ever owned.

Quote: The current C55 and M3 are really a toss-up. I went with the C55 instead because M3's are everywhere and not to mention I walked into a very attractive lease special (similar to the recent E55 lease special). I don't go a day without seeing at least 3 M3's where I work. I see a C55 once in a blue moon. Plus I've already owned an M3 in the past so I wanted to go with something different. I'm also not very fond of revving a motor to 8k rpm to get going. Thanks M3, but I have my Integra for that. The SMG can be very smooth once you've had some time to figure out how to adapt.

You're probably right about it being too far out to the next vehicle but I like to plan ahead and keep my options open. The new M3/M4 should be out by then along with the C63 and Skyline (yes I said it ). Or who knows, maybe I'll call it quits for a while. The main thing is that I'd like to something with 4 doors.
Agreed, if you value your exclusivity, the C55 is seen much less often than a BMW M3. M3's are in great abundance everywhere. Luckily, for me, I don't worry too much about exclusivity.

Agreed, the 8000 rpm redline on an M3 to me is useless; first of all, I wouldn't have the heart to make my car work so hard; and secondly, the car has a traditional lubrication system that can't handle that kind of high RPMs constantly without a lot of wear and tear in the engine. If you look at the engine, if the RPMs were to be cut off at the traditional 6000 RPMs, it'd only produce about the same amount of horsepower as a normal E320. That said, if an E320's engine was able to withstand 8000 RPMs, it might not be too far away from the M3's 333 hp. Anyways, this is besides the point.

Having test driven the BMW M3 with SMG extensively twice (both convertibles even though I would only acquire the coupe model or a four door if they were to introduce one) and the BMW M5 once, I still am not able to figure out how to drive the SMG. I had it in all the various personality modes, I tried lifting my foot off the throttle during shifts, I tried lifting my foot off the throttle partially (as if I were rev matching) when I upshifted, and more techniques that I can't remember and I still couldn't get it right.

Personally, since I'm not so worried about exclusivity, and I do appreciate the BMW M3 (although not the SMG), I would consider acquiring one provided they fixed the SMG. However, when it comes to practicality, all I really need is probably a smaller engined model since I don't drive quickly anyways due to traffic.

So hot. I think the W204 is going to be the most popular Mercedes made so far. Look at the booming sales of the new S-class, now a miniature version for under half the price, will be sold out everywhere. I know I'm thinking of putting myself on the list.

*Edit

Does anyone know how much the C63 AMG will be? I need to start saving now.

Thanks for the post, but gonna merge this with the OFFICIAL w204 thread.

TO EVERYBODY
If you find something cleaver or anyway want to "think" about posting a new thread about the w204, PLEASE post in the Official w204 thread instead of starting a new one. I'm workin' my butt off to clean up all the duplicate threads on this forum, so it would help me and all the other moderators out a lot.

Thanks,

My guess is that any C63 would be detuned by about 10% to avoid having the lighter car being faster than the larger cars fitted with the similar engine.

Another case of the sales department dictating to engineering.

Then along comes Kleemann to upload an E63 map to get it back up to the HP level of other 63's. (Or cripple it even further down to 380rwhp )

Hmm...that doesn't look too bad...a bit plain in the rear, and the new interior is blah, but if that's the new W204 production version, it's pretty nice overall.

New C-Class (W204) Area?
Is anyone in a position to launch a W204 forum area yet?

I can't wait for the 'new' C-Class. I am headed out to the 2007 Geneva Motorshow to see it launch.

Any comments, please respond.

Regards

Hi. First post.

Looks like there is a new update on that website ismeto linked to above.

The sport version will a 3 spoke steering wheel and the non-sport will have a 4 spoke. Does a visual compare of the 2 grill types as well.

Also, it looks like if you don't want the navi, the space for the pop up will be replaced with a recessed color monitor for the radio. Very nice...MB is going all out, even if you don't go all out.

Can't wait.
