Star DAS by it's very nature is totally compatible with post 1996 OBDII & EOBDII. The difference is that it can look far more deeply into the the cars systems & read proprietary Benz codes that fall outside the mandated bounds of OBDII & EOBDII. It can also program things on the car in developer mode & some things outside developer mode. It can also operate directly connected to HQ.
If there is a stored OBDII compliant code Star will see it. It will frequently see it in far more detail. It will see OBDII compliant codes above & below CEL threshold.

Noticed an air bubble in the rear driverside window, where it connects to the frame. Anyone know what the fix is for this? I'm taking it back to the dealer obviously, but was just curious what the procedure is to remedy this.

May have to escalate this to MB Canada customer relations team. Annoying because the car only has 4000km on it, and it's been at the dealer for 2 weeks now.

A bit of black paint could solve this, otherwise the window needs to be replaced.

Thanks. They said they don't see any code on their end at all. Not hopeful on the dealer being able to fix this. They always end up telling me to monitor it.

All I am saying is that a small dab of black paint would render the damage invisible, it's up to you if you want to wait for a new window or if you want yours fixed.

It is a defect thats needs replacement. I dont know in what world putting black paint on it, on a brand new under warranty car be acceptable by any terms.

Hi curious how you did a 'reset' on your command system when it froze up? My system shut off today. All it says on screen is Radio Off and it will not come back on. I've had car turned off for over an hour and was hoping it would be back to normal when I started it up but it still says radio off.

The car was at the dealer 30th. They couldn't see any error codes stored on the gearbox, but they updated the software for the automatic transmission, engine and the audio 20.
But still it shifts hard going down from 5th to 4th, and going from 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th it hesitates for 1/2 second.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

They should have performed a "transmission adaption" as well and not just update the software.
This is done with the Diagnosis tool connected and the car has to be driven through all gears through a certain program holding various rpm.s

Glyn's response actually helped me to identify what it was. I also didn't have a chance to really take a look at it, as I saw it early in the morning on my way to the office.
All I'm saying is that it's a defective part, where I would expect it to be fixed/replaced to new; and not just covered up with paint. Also, I didn't know if there was a way to really "fix" to new standard, or a replacement was necessary. And subsequently, I've noticed an additional spot on the same window that started separating.

It's really odd, so just curious.

It's under the glass on the inside. You cannot see it from the inside however, because the door frame is behind it. Where i'm seeing the issue, is the fixed panel of glass on the rear door. Around the edges, there is a black film that borders the edge of the glass where it meets the door frame.

It is a black mask. The practice started on Windscreens many years back & has subsequently moved to many glass panels in some cases decorative but in other places so you can't see what lies beneath. e.g. it has a window in it to read the VIN on most Benz windscreens. You don't want to see all the other stuff down there including the dash mountings.

It is sometimes in the laminate for a laminated window but more generally, certainly in Benz case it is silk screened onto the glass & then baked. People often have issues getting tint to settle properly over it on the rear window of vehicles like my CLK. It traps air on the dotted sections before it becomes solid.

Drove right to the dealer early this morning, and asked him to drive the car while i am sitting beside him. He noticed the issue right away. then he himself said that they have to run a adaptation.
The car is going back on Thursday, but we agreed that i would leave the car by the dealer the day before so they can start the car while it is cold and get readings from the system.
He mentioned again that there was a known issue registered by Mercedes Germany on the C classes regarding gearing from 2nd to 3rd, so there might come a new update for this. but nobody knows when.

I saw the document just now, and as you say it say they are working on a solution, however this was written in July, it is strange that there hasnt been a fix available yet.

Seems strange yes... Will it affect all C classes? Estate/Sedan, new and old, as there is no solution to this issue 6 months later...
