I have the 360 degree camera on my 2014 GLK and certainly want it on the C300. Does anyone know why it is still not available?
I will probably be ordering a C300 RWD but so far my salesman can't give me any information on when they will begin building. His statement is that it will be first quarter.
on some review videos on youtube, there was a menu for "360 Kamera" on a European C-class but I have not seen an actual video of it being in use in the car.
I know, I called customer service, and they confirmed that there are no plans (of course, it could change) to roll out front or side cameras this year. I am bummed out, because I also have a 2014 E350 which does have it, and it's one of the reasons I was interested in the new W205. I park in a garage in the city, and that would be helpful, along with the slightly smaller size of the C vs. the E class.
I was at the dealer today and they told me that the 360 is not going to be available for the North American market until sometime in 2015.
No fixed date or time frame was given.
There was no explanation given to them and they have a lot of unhappy customers, myself included.
At one time I had heard that there was a technical problem but that must be BS since the 360 degree camera is available in other markets. This is a rotten, arbitrary, deal on the part of the Montvale marketing 'geniuses.'
Don't they realize that many of us have enjoyed this feature on other MB's and now they just won't let us have it. Once you have a new feature that is very helpful you don't want a car without it.

Most salesperson are wondering why its available in both the older E and GLK Classes and not the new C.
I talked to our region manager from Mercedes Benz the other day about the 360 system, and he said there were a few pre production cars that came out with it installed, but problems were discovered and production is halted until futher notice.
It sucks since I was really looking forward to the 360 system in my car
Does the new S class have the 360 camera ? If so, doesn't the new S share the same touchpad/COMAND system as the new C ? I don't understand the argument about the conflict with these two systems or even if that is true.
i've placed an order with a 360 degree, however, not wanting it delivered until March next year. Currently in the UK I'm being told that cars currently in production can't have the 360 degree camera although they are expecting it to be available Q1 2015 but no more info available. Hoping it will get sorted as really wanted the option... although don't want to delay delivery beyond March next year (which is already too far off!) so won't hold the order if I can't have...will just need to decide on another option to compensate....
This is the unofficial explanation for what happened to 360 Camera Option.
Despite the fact that the 360 degree camera system has been an option on the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 since day one, it seem that customers who opted for the rather cool thingamagig will not be getting it anymore.
According to the Mercedes-Benz Passion blog, vehicles which have a calculated delivery in 2014 will have the 360 degree camera option automatically deleted during the order, with the clients obviously not having to pay for it anymore.
On the other hand, if our Google-translated German is correct, it seems that cars that have a calculated delivery in early 2015 may actually be getting the option if it's ticked, while the rest of the customers are given the choice of ordering the Parking Package with front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera (EUR 1225.70 in Germany).
The main reason for the rather uncomfortable delay or delete of the 360 degree camera option seems to be the fact that the two exterior cameras situated inside the exterior mirrors are receiving an electromagnetic disturbance from the GPS module of the navigation system.
If this proves to be correct, as for the moment it is only speculation, it would mean that neither one of the dozens of pre-production C-Class W205 prototypes have used the combination of a navigation system and the 360 degree camera system, something which wouldn't make us think too highly of the testing procedures.
Story via MB Passion - This is a German Website so perhaps someone could verify the translation.
to be the fact that the two exterior cameras situated inside the exterior mirrors are receiving an electromagnetic disturbance from the GPS module of the navigation system.
And all these time, don't they have all these modules installed in all their other cars without any problem ???
Sounds very odd, the GPS module doesnt emit any strong electromegnetic fields.
Yeah doesn't sound right to me. The GPS doesn't send any information at all actually, it only receives from the satellites so shouldn't send any info or magnetic waves at all.
Here is what we are all not getting.
It is a video in German around the 35second mark. This will give you an idea of why those who have it on their other MB's are not happy now that its a no longer available.
One other thing I noticed from the video, also at the 10min mark, is a walk around of a table top model of the C. The rear end of this model is infinitely better than what went into production! Don't get me wrong, the new C is beautiful car, but IMO the rear end has an unfinished look. The model however does not.
