MB not Gouging on Lease Rates

Just got a quote on a comparable Audi S4 3.0T Progressive Quattro 7Speed S Tronic. Similarly equipped, with leather interior vs Mtek and rear heated seats in the Audi. Options are rear side air bags, navigation, adaptive headlights, standard 18" wheels. The S badging and facia mods.
This price/engine is more comparable to the C400 with a 0-100k in 5.1sec.

Lease rates are identical to Mercedes 4.9 - 5.26 (negotiable to 4 at MB perhaps even lower, not sure about Audi at this point.)

The 36 month lease residual value is where Mercedes buries Audi
67% versus 57% ouch. I recall the difference much narrower 5 years ago.
At 48 month the Audi Residual falls to 50% at 16,000km/year 10,000miles/year

The base mileage at Mercedes is 18,000km/year versus 16,000km/year at Audi, making the actual residual value even lower compared to MB.

Now if MB can just get its tech to prime time it would have the clear winner until the Audi A4 2016 comes out.

Wow the residual is a lot higher in Canada (if that number is accurate). For 15k miles per year and 36 mos, the C300 residual is 60% and C400 58% in the US.

So, it's 67% at 16 km/yr (10k mi/yr) [ Canada] and 60% at 24 km/yr (15K mi/yr) [US]. Seems, not very different?

I am not sure if that is correct.

I was on MBUSA.com and did a $54,500 build and did the same 3 year 15,000mile 36/month lease. The estimate before taxes are approx. $90.00 cheaper per month. I would think this means that the USA gets a lower lease rate with a 67% Residual. Otherwise the lease rate would be like very low with a 57% Residual.

The Canadian Freight and PDI is $2075 compared to $975 in the US.

The Canadian market was treated a whole lot better when we got our cars from Germany. There was just a price gap between USA and Canada. Now there is difference in price along with Freight, options and delivery times.

Lease rates calculated from mbusa.com

I took a stab at the mbusa.com rates as suggested by leslielp. To make it easier, I picked the base C300 with no down payment: $41,325 (USD), for 36 months. The $41325 is the MSRP and is the amount financed.
According to the website,
10k mi/yr ==> $546
12k mi/yr ==> $557
15k mi/yr ==> $578

This gives (if my calculations are correct), an equiv interest rate of 3.55% (=money factor of 0.00148) and a residual of:
10 k mi/yr ==> 61%
12 k mi/yr ==> 60%
15 k mi/yr ==> 58%

(Checked this with my own config -- seems to agree with mbusa.com).
However, my car isn't here yet, so I can't tell you if this is what the dealers are offering.
Can someone check my calculations?

Another data point indicates 3.55%

One more data point to check: current lease offers. C300 for 36 months, 10K mi/yr (30K miles total). $439. [Includes $625 kicked in by the dealer].

The residual is 63% (as shown in the offer: 27736/44025 = 63%). This translates to 3.55% as I calculated before.

Here is the offer from MB:
Available only to qualified customers through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services at participating dealers through September 30, 2014. Not everyone will qualify. Advertised 36 months lease payment based on MSRP of $44,025 less the suggested dealer contribution resulting in a total gross capitalized cost of $43,400. Dealer contribution may vary and could affect your actual lease payment. Includes Destination Charge and Premium 1 Package. Excludes title, taxes, registration, license fees, insurance, dealer prep and additional options. Total monthly payments equal $15,804. Cash due at signing includes $3,499 capitalized cost reduction, $795 acquisition fee and first month's lease payment of $439. No security deposit required. Total payments equal $20,098. At lease end, lessee pays for any amounts due under the lease, any official fees and taxes related to the scheduled termination, excess wear and use plus $0.25/mile over 30,000 miles, and $595 vehicle turn-in fee. Purchase option at lease end for $27,736 plus taxes (and any other fees and charges due under the applicable lease agreement) in example shown. Subject to credit approval. Specific vehicles are subject to availability and may have to be ordered. See participating dealer for details. Please always wear your seat belt, drive safely and obey speed limits.

Who buys a C300/C400 and drives 8333 miles a year? Its not an SL 550 .... I would think most people drive 12K a year at least

In the current offer (which ends Sep 30) it looks like they jacked up the residual to 63% from 61% (the residual from the standard configurator). 63% is pretty good for 36 mos/10K mi.

How can you negotiate it to 4 at MB?

Lowest lease rates

A few things got me a low lease rate. I am a repeat MB lease customer and I have at least one payment left. That gives you 0.75% reduction.
Because MB lease is fun via MB Financial your credit rating is the deciding factor in offering you the lowest rate.

Before I sign I usually ask for their best offer and then make one final counter offer

If it's a fair offer they initially refuse then call you in a day or two

Hope this helps good luck with your negotiations

There is also a 0.25% reduction if you auto-pay (via bank). At least, in the US.

Here are the residuals I got on a C300:
- 51% for 12K mi/yr, 4 yrs
- 62% for 12K mi/yr, 3 yrs
- 63% for 10K mi/yr, 3 yrs.

This is the deal on mbusa.com (and offered by my dealer). Deal lasts till Sep. 30.
