W205 with AMG Sports Pkg may have to use 18" Snow Tires

I took my car into a local tire dealer who wanted to see if they could indeed use the 225-50-17" Snow tire and rims.
The front larger MB Break calipers were touching so they told me the only alternative is to get 225-45-18" Rim setup.
I am sure this is only for the AMG Sports package line and will not affect the Avantgarde or Luxury lines.

I think I will wait for the Mercedes official announcement before getting any snows.

My dealer told me I could use the 225x45 size on the OEM wheels all around, even though the rear wheels are wider. He said this is what MB is telling them.

I'll check this out before I do anything. It doesn't sound right, but the service guy said he was certain.

For my c400 AMG line, I am getting a winter tire package from my dealer. 18" wheels. 7.5" wide (non staggered) genuine mercedes rims with 225 45 R18 run flats. The rims are the 18" rims that are the upgrade for the c300 sport. They are quoting me $3000

A C400 AMG requires 17" you do not need 18"

Still unsure about the C300 AMG will get to that soon.

Smaller engines will work with 16"

Yup its the official "approved Winter tire" sizes.

Just click on Year and model and either C300 or C400... C63 is grayed out

I'm running 225x45x18" non-RFT snows all around on my OEM 5 spoke 18" wheels with no problem at all.

Be careful with aftermarket rims, I had to take the original rim (16") for the winter tires and will have new tires for the summer. Two different sets of rims was tested and there was interference between rims and calipers.

In what width and ET?

Using 16x6.5" you need ET38

16x7,5 will work with ET45

That is correct StanH, in fact, that is the spec quoted on the manual for snow fitment

I tried 16" (ET38 as per manual, Dezent TG) on my C200 but the front caliper was mili metres from wheel and the outer stick on balancing weights actually touched the calipers.

Don't know, I got the message from the dealer that it did not work.

Anyway, I can now choose 17" or 18" instead of boring 16" fleet edition wheels.

Do you recommend 225 45 18 set up for all wheels including rear in AMG line 8.5 rims?

Guys,

Take all the guess work out and just get your tires/wheels from Tirerack. They measure and test fit actual cars to make sure there is no interference with brake parts, suspension parts, or the fender lip.

I bought 18" winter wheel and tires for my wife's C300 4Matic Sport, but Tirerack shows that they have 60+ wheel models in 17" that will also fit.

Anyway, is there any specific reason to get 17" snow tires? Is the taller sidewall preferable? We don't get crazy snow like NY or Canada, so I am not sure of the guys who have to drive through heavy snow fall, potholes, and etc, want the really tall sidewalls for additional float and rim protection.

The title for my C180T AMG says 19" standard and 18" as an alternative. I'm using 225/45-18 winter tires. 17" is not mentioned at all.

Been also thinking of what other alternatives i have as a winter setup for aftermarket wheels.Found a lot of wheels from E class w212 but i don't know if they will fit.

I agree,
In my C200 AMG line I got originally 18", but 17 "will also fit:
front axle: 7J x 17 ET48,5 | 225/50 R17 H
rear axle: 7J x 17 ET48,5 | 225/50 R17 H

17 inch whells will fit all
- C-Class W205 Sedan
- C-Class station wagon S205
- C-Class Coupe C205
- C-Class Cabriolet A205
not suitable for C350e, C 43 AMG, C 63 AMG

have a 2015 c400 sports/amg package and I have a line on some amg 18s but the wheels are staggered; fronts are 18x7.5 and rears are 18x8.5 - any thoughts on whether I could run a non staggered tire set up using 225 45 18s all around (square st up)? Any feedback is much appreciaged. Thanks!

I'm a little confused. The C400 came standard with staggered 18" AMG wheels, 7.5" 225/45 front and 8.5" 245/40 rear. What size(s) are on the car now?

My car came with the same setup.
When i bought it,the previous owner changed it to a non staggered setup and this is how i have it also for the last 5 months. No issue..I have 225/45/18 all around.
