Just connect your phone, select it as source after pressing the 'media' button, then hit the 'back' button on your car's 'mouse' and select the search option from the bottom of the media screen. You should be able to search on album, artist, title etc, even cover art (if supported by your phone - only got that part to work on CD and USB myself though ...)...

When streaming on Bluetooth, I see no "Search" option. This pic shows all I get.

 

Oops, my mistake: you are correct! The search feature only works on CD and USB key (after reading all information in ...). The option to search/select specific tracks does not seem to exist/work for an iPhone connected over Bluetooth....
