OEM run flat tires

2012 C250
OEM run flat tires
I got a new C300 this weekend. I drove several cars before deciding on the one I wanted. The one a got has the Continental tires on it, but I thought another one I drove with the Pirelli tires was smoother and quieter. The dealer agreed that I could come back and they would swap them. I've seen some not so good reviews on the Pirellis but can't find anything on the Continentals. What are others thoughts based on what they have? Thanks.

I'm interested to hear too. I only tested the Perelli on comfort suspension in 17, so poor comparison to contes on 18 and different suspensions. Neither well tested on tirerack. We're the ones you tested the same size? 17, 18, or 19?

They are great, but I got them to agree to it before I signed the paperwork and it was too late in the day for them to switch the tires. The Pirellis are run-flats too. I'm leaning toward keeping the Continentals. I was just curious what brand the majority of people had on their new Cs.

The Continental 225/45x18's that are used on the front axle are subject to a recall. Make sure you have the dealer check the DOT numbers and replace them if needed.

Is it just the Continental 18's that are subject to recall? I have Continental 19's on mine. Is there a website that specifies which ones are being recalled?

My information is from the recall notice I received in the mail from Continental. It specifically states that the affected tires are the 225/45x18's. Over 5,000 tires are being recalled, most of those being on the Mercedes W205 series.

Has anyone had the occasion to try same size tires of different makes on the car off same suspension? Which would you want on the car? Randomly they're putting on Conti, Perelli, and Michelin. All run flats obviously. Tire review sites limited help as these tires are all on newer generations. Wondered if anyone had feeling for which most taught or forgiving, or noise differences from a test drive.

Just a heads up, the OEM tires are fine, but once they are done, Im swapping them for Michelin Pilots Super Sport. Amazing high performance summer tires. Excellent ride, amazingly quiet, stick like glue on wet and dry, IMO (and Ive tried a few of them) there's simply is no better high performance tire. The previous PS2 was amazing, this new generation is simply exceptional, plus, they aren't runflats. Mercedes has a fix a flat, plus pump "system" that fits nicely in the trunk underfloor compartment.
