Benz has had many focus groups in this regard. The concensus has been no touch screens. People want hard buttons or control similar to what Benz has fitted to the W205 with simplicity for Asia where characters can be complex in Mandarin etc.
Focus groups also reveal that Benz owners/potential owners don't want grubby fingerprints all over a touch screen they have to view.
As I reported about a year ago in a discussion with Sportstick et al on the W204 forum, Oona Scheepers, the South African lady that does interior design & ergonomics for VW stated that all cars would have touch screens in future. Well I'm not so sure but good to her word VW has just moved to touch screens.
OEM's would love to go to capacitive touch screens because they are so cheap to implement. I don't see it happening on Benz cars for now.

Whatever the Auto Group in this case places in front of them.

No touch screen
I don't think we'll see that...I know that there are aftermarket systems which are touch screen...I have one. The COMMAND system (at least for me) was actually very simple...I use the buttons for temperature controls...the other features I've set and really no need to fool with them again...i.e. ambient lighting, audible door locking, interior/exterior lighting. Touch control I've found requires more of my attention when I use it than does the COMMAND system. I found that while initially the COMMAND system appeared complex...the majority of the features you can access are not used. I'm not sure how long you've had your car but give it time and you'll be an expert at it...

Wouldn’t you think that Benz manufacturers would comply to what the consumers want? Having a no touch screen can be a deal breaker for some consumers. When you are paying a certain amount for a vehicle, you want it to have what you need, I’m assuming anyway.
