Air freshener?

Air freshener?
So I installed the air freshener a month ago. Honestly, I can't tell a difference in the cabin, but the system does detect it. i have the setting on high. The actual canister in the glove box hasn't gone down at all. So, just wondering what other people's experience is.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I put Air Balance on low, and I sometimes can smell it, especially just after starting the car. It's a nice touch. After 3,000 km, I can see the fluid level very slowly going down.

Mine has the jar with the fluid already in it, and the four tubes for re-fill, but I can't smell anything either but being the car is new I am enjoying that fragrance for now!

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. Waste of money, for a fart masker. It takes over 25% of the already small glove compartment plus you can buy a so called "fragrance dispenser" for 2 bucks and hide it somewhere you cant see it.

I get the joke, but in all seriousness, You can refill the vial with your own favorite alcohol based scent, so here you go.

Amazing. The fact the car has such a cool option, AND that Nordstrom can make you smell the way people try NOT to smell around law enforcement. If anything alcohol based goes in there, why not add some 18yo single malt Scotch?
I like the possibility of the option for double carbon filtration and ionizer as much as the scent. It's a chump change add on and great conversation piece.

When I watched the marketing video for Air Balance it showed that you not only got the smelly insert bit but it also means the air gets ionised so perhaps there's more to what you pay than just a canister of smell?

Except that you are incorrect and it also includes an ionizer. Plus a full can which is $50 anyway. So you really dont pay that much extra and you don't look like some cheap guy buying walmart air fragrance for your car

This is the excerpt from the S Class promo material, but from what I can see its the same setup in the C Class. As seen on the Merc TV C Class Air Balance video.
As a world first, the new S-Class Saloon has an “active perfuming system” as part of the AIR-BALANCE package. ‘Active’ means that the perfuming system is switched on and off manually, with manual adjustment of the intensity. The perfume atomisation system individualises the smell of the vehicle interior. It neither changes the interior smell permanently, nor are perfume molecules deposited on fabric surfaces or clothing.
Another feature of the AIR-BALANCE package is improved filtering of the outside air fed into the vehicle interior by the climate control system, and of the air recirculating in the interior in air recirculation mode. The filter system is now even more efficient, and is able to reduce the peak levels of certain gaseous emissions while lowering their concentration below the perception threshold. Ionisation is another component of the AIR-BALANCE package, the air from the climate control unit being conducted into the interior via an ioniser. In a combined operating mode this renders certain viruses, bacteria and spores inactive (cleaning effect). At the same time the air can be freshened by an increased concentration of negatively charged oxygen ions (relaxing effect).

I have a new car with the Air Balance package. The setting is on high and I really can't smell anything. My wife and my kids can't sense any smell either. I have taken the vial out and re-inserted it.
Just have to ask you guys before I take it to the dealer (and be declared as an idiot with no nose)... Is the smell clearly recognisable when the setting is on high?

If you turn air freshener off, on a restart of the car and turning it on on in the vehicle settings, do you hear it engage? (sounds like a little motor). Does led backlight work on it? If in doubt, take it in. It's not in your face powerful, but just like at top of bottle smells, it disperses, through all the A/C vents. Even when in heat mode, it turns on the A/C vents very little occasionally (can hear motors turning the vents on/off as well). Very trick little system, and with the double filters and the ionization, seems a nice trick for the cost.
