Burmester Stereo Issues :(

speaker replaced, rattles fixed (so far)
Still no resolution to my open case. My dealership"s hands are tied as MBUSA has instructed not to replace the speaker until the audio firmware update (no available eta) has been applied to vehicle. I am assuming that this is the update first mentioned by Sneaks09 back in Feb. I have been very patient but this is becoming absurd.
Some rattles were coming from the seat buttons.
Try to talk with your dealer to pressure them replacing it for you. good luck

Sorry to wake up an older thread, but I am experiencing this on a 2016 C450 that is only a week old. So the prevailing thought is new speakers?
Any update on the door buttons rattling?

Be that guy
I was pretty impressed they bought it back after 17 months without any fight. Ended up getting a Tesla instead.
Good luck!

Sound System Problem
Have the same crakeling sound and now a wopping sound when the souround is on. All my music sound like crap when it has base in it. Now my cars bermester sound system is now blown out. I been working on trying to get them to replace all the harneses and amps and wiring and the speakers themselfs. So far they still want to run tests, they been doing this for 6 months and how its preowned they wont let me lemon it out (engine problems, electrical problems, sound system problems, LED problems, Car platics falling off at 10,000 miles.) So they gave me option to trade in. I dont want to thou. Anyone know or anyone has gotten mercedes benz to replace they system?

Speed Sensitive Volume Issues
I haven't experienced crackling issues like you have; however, in my car the volume automatically adjusts to uncomfortable levels when the car gains speed and becomes exceedingly quiet whenever the car is stopped. The volume will not ever remain constant, which is extremely annoying, especially in stop-and-go traffic. The variation in volume occurs regardless of whether the "Automatic Volume Adjustment" box in the vehicle settings menu is deselected.
Have any other W205 C-Class owners with the Burmeister stereo experienced this problem?

My C300 has barely 348 miles, but every time I'm listening to the radio or my media, I get crackling/popping noises from the speakers. I tend to listen to my music pretty loud, but even when I listen to the music softly and I keep the bass low, I will occasionally get the pop/crackle noise from the system.
Does anyone here these weird popping noises occasionally while listening to their music? I think maybe one of the speakers or wiring is defective.

Mine does it for certain pitches and voice calls on Bluetooth. I'm glad I'm not the only one really disappointed that I spent thousands in the option and I'm really not satisfied. I could have gotten focals and jl audio.

Severe issues with the Burmester System
Hi All,
I have been back and forth with Mercedes Benz Australia for over 4 Months now.
I returned the car 8 times in 3 months in an attempt to have the distorting rectified.
On 2 occasions, they damaged the car.
I have treated very poorly since I complained about the issue and their final official response was that my expectations were too high and I was being "fussy"
I intend on taking them to court and I will extensively blog and offer my reviews on the product and my experience with their staff.
I was specifically dealing with Brighton and Kew dealerships that have wiped their hands of the issue
I will not stop until action is taken

2015 C 300 4Matic
I owned a 2015 c300 with the burgmeister system. Over a year going back and forward dealer and MB, so I would like to get enough people with this system in all classes CLA, C , E GLC. I had tested all of them, we have problem with the speakers, software, acoustic.
I will send you few songs plus a frecuency test with you can ear popping , cracklings door vibrating all car rattles . Plus other issues as wind noise front screen rattles please contact me at kompressor-c230@hotmail.com Eduardo RAMIREZ I am going against MB Legally for poor build quality door handles , wind noise etc. I did already won a case against Nissan

Well there may be a language barrier here. I emailed edevenarero and advised that while my C300 Burmester hasn't experienced any of the issues he mentioned here, I'd like to hear the recordings of the frequency tests he mentions in his post. He replied asking me for my year, make model and VIN, apparently in anticipation of some sort of class action.
If it's easier, Edevenaero, you can attach the file(s) in a post in the thread.

I have the same issue ,,, its very annoying. that you pay for this high-end speaker then my 4 years old wife mazda is sounding better.
hope my dealer will fix this problem since my car is 2016 model C450 and only done 7k, am really planning to go for a BMW if this issue still remains

If you opened the door panels and saw the little tiny paper coned speakers behind the fancy grilles you'd know instantly why the stock system is never going to sound any better. There's almost nothing to it, and nothing the dealer can help you with. Find an audio shop and have them put a sub in the trunk. That'll help a great deal.

Having had the Mark Levinson system for the past 4 years in my Lexus vehicles and then switching to Mercedes, the burmeister system sucks, hands down. I get the most amount of distortion high-volume from the center speaker behind the navigation screen. If I hold it down and apply pressure to the speaker while the song is on it sounds a lot better which is ridiculous. I switched to Mercedes because I had had Lexus vehicles for 10 years and I wanted to give something else to try. Disappointing you pay 50+ thousand dollars for a car and the Soundsystem probably is better if I bought a Kia. My fear of having Mercedes try and fix it when I take it in for my first service is if they will damage something in the dash or in the car so I'll just learn to live with it and re-think my next purchase.

It always surprises me when people say they'll think twice about a brand when it's one small facet of a car that bugs them. IMO the drivetrain is the weakest part of this car and that's important as you can't really change that. An audio system though can be changed so if you like the car then spend on the improvement you want.
personally the audio system is better than most stock systems but a little too bright at high volume for me. If I keep the car I'll be spending to address that.

Well, I haven't been having any crackling or rattling problems. My basic complaint about the Burmeister system is that under normal volume conditions and using the fader, you can't get the sound to fill the cabin...as the sound still mostly comes from the center of the dash. However, I have found that upping the sound level does give a better sound stage effect...but sound level does have to be high and if you have a passenger, communication can be difficult.
Another thing I notice, and this may not be a function of the sound system, is that when listening to the news on Sirius XM CNN, the sound often sounds like it is coming from an echo chamber...especially when women are talking??? BTW, I've go the new coupe.

Use the knife to pry up one corner. The piece snaps in and out...it'll take some force but it will pop up well before it breaks. (They're $40 on EBay if you ever broke one).
Once one corner is released you can get a hand in there. Apply upward pressure along the perimeter to release the rest of the grille and remove it.
Run some foam tape pieces between the clips along the sides of the grille. Reinstall the grille by positioning it and pressing down. It'll take more force than usual as the foam adds more resistance, but that resistance is what keeps tension on the grille and keeps it from buzzing. Then your hand is free for other things...

Just bought a 2017 C300
I am experiencing the same buzzing issues with the upgraded sound system on a 2017 c300 I just bought brand new!!! It's horrible!!! My 2005 c230 sounded way better. It had Harmon Kardon system! This is a disgrace!!!
