strobe lighting

Ive seen videos of the 15 C class with 4 way flashers on at a dealership and they were flashing like a strobe light. Is this a hidden feature??? I haven't seen it yet.

You may just be seeing the cameras frames per second being out of sync with the LED's output frequency.

I find myself amused at this thread/post even existing. Read up on this DRL LED technology, it flickers, but too fast for you to see. The camera however also flickers (in a way, in that it has a frame rate) and the overlap of the camera frame rate vs that of the LEDs in the car is what causes the interference or 'strobing' that you see.

Well the rear lights really have a "strobe effect" in case of emergency braking, so the question is not stupid... But as far as I know it only concerns the rear, not the front

Let's not be too critical. Most people have their own area's of expertise. Someone who does not know about light frequencies etc would not know about this.

98woody - as per ManiacGT, this is just camera visualisation and is not visible in person. The same way cameras don't get the same framing as your eye can see and usually don't capture colours correctly.

Deary me. No one said it was stupid. I said it amused me, from the perspective ' 4 way flashers ' strobing could be a feature.

Top Gear often puts this 'flickering' to good use in their slowed-down footage (often when a car is drifting sideways or something on their track). Always loved that effect

same effect as with the lights can also be achieved with spinning wheels and helicopter rotors...basically anything that spins/flickers with a frequency that is synced with the camera.
