Phone text message displayed on Command screen

Has anyone been able to get text messages on their iPhone to display automatically onto the command screen when they are received. I have tried everything I can think of with no luck .
I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.3 I'm sure it is something simple.

On your iPhone, go to settings, Bluetooth, select the "I" next to the car's Bluetooth option, and turn on "show notifications".

Correct, just got mine to work over the weekend. It does not automatic display the message. You get an envelop icon and email received notification sound when txt is received. Then you have to go to the Tel on the command and click on the envelop icon to read the message.

You can also add a shortcut in your favorites to take you directly to your messages. I have found this very convenient.

As clunky as the comand interface is, the favorites feature is really great.

I've tried all that & I still can not get it to work. This is very frustrating.

I believe the icon only appears if you receive the text while the car is in operation.

It appears that my iPhone4 email (not text) is not supported by command, is that right? Any other phones work with command email?

Once again I have received messages while driving & I get no indication
that a text message has been received. I clicked on the envelop & all get is message saying that there is "no messages the download" on the command screen.

My Command manual suggests going to mbusa-mobile.com. I believe I went there and found help getting mine to work with my iPhone.

I was able to view my text messages for a little while with my samsung galaxy s3 on android but it recently stopped working. When I go to messages, it just keeps trying to download messages but nothing happens.

Yeah, I have a Galaxy S5 and mine does the same thing. It's never worked for me. Sometimes I get the message indicator, but I can't view it or do anything.

Ok I don't know what I've done but today while driving I received a text message on my phone & I was able to read it on the Command screen. Go figure.

Ok now I have 2 other questions about text messages.

1. Is there anyway that the notification of receiving message can be made louder or that the message just pops up regardless of what is displayed on the screen.

2. Is there a way you can send text messages while driving, when I tried today the system told me "this function was disabled while in motion".

I don't know of a way to send messages while driving. I think that is a good thing -- texting and driving is dangerously distracting, probably even if done through the car interface.

It is probably even more dangerous thru the car's interface as your attention is further distracted by an unfamiliar interface plus it is not optimized like a phone for texting.

Ah, I got it to work! I forgot the connection and re-did the whole process in the car. The only difference is after I turn on the "show notification" I turned off the bluetooth on my phone and turned it back on. It works for now!

How were you able to get the shortcut to work? I press and hold the star when I'm looking at text messages but I get a message that favorites is not an option for that screen.

When I picked up the car the salesman walked me through pairing my iPhone 5S and it worked perfectly. I got home and paired my wife's 5S (it's her car) and there was no "show notifications" to turn on. I asked around, got no good answers, so I guessed that it was due to my phone being paired first; maybe the car will only support one device's notifications? Well, I deleted the car in my phone and my phone in the car and still, no "show notifications" option on her phone. Then she got an iPhone 6 and still, no "show notifications" option. Anyone?

I had the same problem initially. The "show notification" option wasn't there. I just turned off and on the bluetooth a few times. Try turning your phone off and on. The option suddenly appeared.

I have my S4 Mini running android connected to my W205 (Non Command, Audio20)

Now most of the time it works seamlessly (as it did in my W204), however every now and again it stops picking up text messages. For example my Phone will beep when I receive a text, but there is no notification from the car.
When I attempt to manual view the next's using the Audio20 the text envelope is greyed out.

The next time I use the car its fine, very strange.

It doesn't work for group texts or (obviously) pictures. Were the texts either of these?

No it was just a standard text. Its the whole text function that stops working i.e you can't click on the envelope to access old or sent messages.

Got in the car today and its works fine again
