Lowering with Airmatic, WITHOUT using links.
So after a car wash I decided to connect Xentry to see what I could do with the airmatic system,
I accessed the Airmatic calibration feature and a few minutes later here is the result:

Pictures are taken with the vehicle in the "Sport" Agility setting, the Comfort mode is only slightly higher but the best part is that the comfort in "Comfort" mode is unchanged.
Still need to adjust the rear a bit more but I didnt have time, will fine tune the settings when summer wheels are due.
This is all done without touching the links, however if you want to lower even more, the links are needed as you only can adjust the calibration values so far.

The car needs to sit perfectly level then they enter the Airmatic system in Xentry and select level calibration.
Then its all about adjusting each wheel to the desired level, however the level display bar in Xentry needs to be green to be able to save the calibration, if red it is too high or low, this is self explnatory within the dianosis menu.

Is it a specific version, something I can buy from say ebay?

Buying a functional Xentry Star from ebay usually doesnt come cheap, and I dont think any of them are "official" so I can not tell how they will work regarding the W205

The two lowering methods, using links or not gives the very same end result, the difference being that when using links you can go much lower if you want.
When I had the links fitted the height was pretty much identical compared to now, so no difference in Comfort.

hi Vic,
can you please explain how you did it? how do you get access to airmatic?
does it go back to initial position when you turn off the car?

There is no need for lowering values, the procedure is very self explanatory, just lower the vehicle to desired setting by adjusting each wheel, then enter romess calibraton values 0,0,0,0 and save.

This is going to be the first thing on my list when my car arrives next month, before I even take it home, its gonna be straight on the alignment rack (level surface) and get it lowered.

Also the camber should probably need to be adjusted if going too low, this I believe will require the control arms bushes to be changed with the adjusting ones instead of using the camber bolt kit as on previous mercedes models, like the camber adjustment on the new s-class, this is going to be more expensive than what it used to be.
Part numbers will be needed for this Vic if you can help.

I also have the Romess system, but there is no use as the Romess angle values will be out of spec when lowered.
There is also no need for adjusting camber as this has very little effect on tire wear, however the toe value will most likely need adjusting as this is much more important.

Good, thanks Vic,
Also, do you get the car lowered equally at all agility control settings? Or does the diagnostic allows you to set height for each mode? For example lower the car by say 15mn at sport mode but keep the same height as standard in comfort mode?
And going too low will compromise reliability of air springs or shock absorbers? These are costly to replace as we learned from our ML 63 AMG that we had to replace both shocks and air springs at the front last year

You can only adjust the one setting, the different agility ratios stays the same, for example sport plus lowers an additional 15mm.s from current height.
I have no idea how lowered air springs affect life and durability, but I doubt it will make them last longer
