C300 ENGINE NOISE
WHEN GOT MY BRAND NEW 2015 C300 FROM THE DEALER I WAS START ASKING WHY MY ENGINE SOUND LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE FROM THE 80'S. AFTER DRIVING FOR 3 MONTHS I ENDED UP AT THE DEALER SEVERAL TIME AND THEY SAID "IT IS NORMAL....". CAR 6 MONTHS OLD THE NOISE WAS SO EVIDENT AND THEY RECONIGZE A PROBLEM. THEY REPLACE PISTONS-CONECTING RODS AND BEARINGS. CAR WAS AT THE DELAER FOR A MONTH. 6 MONTHS LATER OF THAT REPAIR MY CAR SUDDENLY STALL IN A MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR FAILURE IN THE CONECTING RODS. CAR AT THE DEALER AGAIN. THEY WANT TO REPLACE ONE CONECTING ROD AGAIN. THEY SOLD ME A LEMON AND THEY ARE DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT. I'M STILL WAITING IF MERCEDES BENZ CUSTOMER CARE CANADA DECIDES TO ANSWER MY CLAIM.
SHAME.

Perhaps some Canadian who has also suffered the wrist-pin disaster could advise C300LEMON2015 on how to get though to Mercedes-Benz Canada. Any class-action lawsuits pending in Canada? It might be useful if C300LEMON2015 would update his profile or otherwise reveal in what province (or even in what city) he lives.

Highway to hell
Perhaps a fellow Canadian can give him some advice about getting a buy-back. Even though I'm not Canadian, I offer the advice that if the dealer stonewalls, an inquiry from a local newspaper automotive columnist or a local TV station might move things along.

I'm not a Canadian but I did stay at Holiday Inn with a maple tree once.
Canadian arbitration procedure:

You have to attempt to resolve the issue with the manufacturer before using this procedure.

I eat a lot of Egg McMuffins, which contain Canadian Bacon, so I pretty much have dual citizenship. According to Canadian law, you must first slap your Mercedes Benz service advisor across the face with your glove and challenge him to a duel. It sounds antiquated but, you know, Canada.
EDIT. My bad. That was for if your service adviser besmirches the reputation of a lady you are courting. It's arbitration.

Very interesting to join the forum....News about theC300LEMON2015, the car will have a new engine with new 4 year warranty. MB isnot planning to do a re call for those engines (good to know what is the car brandI will not buy in the future).
Mike5215: be careful with Canadian Bacon, it is not helping you withyour problem with ladies (and no caps….)
Mr J.: yes… ESL . Very smart !. How did you realize ?.
LateC300: maybe you have a late C300. Too many posting…..spend sometime checking your Diesel engine….

So it sounds like they are taking care of you and replacing your engine? Good news! Did they specify if the problem was the "wrist pin defect"?
As far as ESL, I worked with a lot of international students in college. I got used to interpreting the syntax of non-native speakers. I have a lot of friends who speak ESL too. So it was pretty obvious to me Your written English is actually pretty good

The explanation about the "wrist pin defect” was in the previous event when they changed pistons-connecting rods & bearings.
After the second failure, I rejected the proposal of repair and I decided to show up at the dealer with my lawyer, a day later they called to inform they will change the engine ....
Mike: I believe you about the "bacon transaction"

Include me in......
Guess I have been in denial. Finally decided to take my car in for all those pesky little things. Clicking engine, jerking tranny, door handle lights out, door rattle , etc. etc.
Dealer told me its needs the piston wrist pin job. They said was ok to drive and they would call me when the parts come in to schedule the work. What is the average time the car is at the dealer for this work to be done?
Not happy but it is what it is. Anyone have any info on after this work is done if it would effect the long term reliability of the car? Anyone know for sure if this will appear on car fax ?

Don't blame the American assembly workers
Same with the mis-aligned rear bumpers and trim. Correct design would have included locating pins and recepticles so positively interlocked that no mis-alignment could occur. The wind noise problem seems to be also a desigh problem.
I can't say the same about the interior fit and finish problems. And I simply don't know what's up with the failures of the door handle lights. (I didn't have that problem.)

I have the c200 (detuned version of c300 and same engine) and am told it's not an issue on mine. I find that debatable given its the same engine but detuned. I don't have the rattle on deceleration/revs off but I do have a loud diesel like knocking when fully warm. In any event if I keep the car I'll keep up a warranty too. I do the same on my BMW as costs to repair are astronomical and these are complex cars.

It happened to me. They changed pistons, wrist pin, connecting rods and bearings. After 6 months of that repair one connecting rod failed. Engine not repairable. Ask the dealer to replace the engine....

Engine fixed
The engine was fixed within a week in addition to a few other issues. I have to say the dealer did a fantastic job so far (hope there' no issues like other people said in this thread)
I have not tested the MPG yet, but the engine definitely sounds a bit better than before, and it also got rid of the clicking noise.
I was pretty happy because I was provided a Mercedes loaner (half loaded C class) as I just turned 25.
Hopefully, I will enjoy the car for two more months and get a C43 (if the trade assist goes well). Otherwise, I will keep it as everything should be ok now after ~16 times in the shop and 50 days out of service
It's time to enjoy it.
