Took my 2015 C300 in on 1/12/16 for Service A, Wind Noise and Engine Noise problems. Got the car back yesterday, 1/22/16. So, it took them only 10 days to secure all the necessary parts and do the work. Pretty good.
For the wind noise I got a new RH side mirror and acoustic glass for driver's and passenger side windows. So far, the improvement is significant.
They also tested my engine and found an offending noise at 1700 rpm on deceleration. They replaced 129 parts in the engine including pistons, rings and connecting rods. The work involved what is described as a complete tear down and rebuild of the engine. That's a ton of labor. My customer copy of the work order does not show parts or labor cost for warranty work, but we are talking a lot of money. So if you own an engine that falls under this under the TSB, I would get it to the dealer for inspection. Had I not read of the problem on this site, I would have never known and could have ended up paying for this mess once the car was out of warranty.
I have driven the car only about 20 miles since getting it back, so I can't say anything about gas mileage yet. The power seems normal. Smoothness seems fine, too. But, I really won't know until I drive it more.

The exact cutoff date is 04/20/15. As I wrote in my post #30, "Note added 01-03-15: see the comment by deafcon at https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w2...il#post6612605. So that readers do not have go to deafcon's comment, here is the operative sentence, "Any M274 built at the Infiniti plant in Dechard before serial number ~43000, or built in Germany before roughly serial ~400000 could develop the problem. New wrist pins went into production engines starting April 20th."
So I take it my car does not fall under the TSB...but I'll ask my service manager anyway when I take it in for it's "A" service.

Gah so that's the noise that I've been hearing. I have been wondering why my engine sounded different for the past couple of weeks (since it has become cold here in New Orleans). It's some weird chattering when I'm coasting, slowly accelerating, or just cruising at low speed. It would disappear at higher speed or if accelerating fast enough.

I also had this issue which I noticed shortly after purchasing my '15 C300 in November of 2014. I mentioned it to Mercedes shortly after buying the car and they claimed to have "heard nothing." After mentioning it for the third time along with a suspension issue, they found the noise and diagnosed it as needing new piston rods.
After 5 weeks of the CLA loaner, I was notified that the car was ready for me to pick up. The receipt was roughly 3 pages long and listed the following work as being completed:
Disconnected battery
Discharged a/c system
Removed engine with transmission
Installed engine on engine stand
Removed cylinder head' disassembled lower oil pan removed lanchester
Removed piston rods. Installed new updated pistons and rods, reassembled engine.
Reinstalled engine in vehicle with transmission. Reinstalled under panels.
Bleed coolant circuits. Installed new oil filter with new oil. Performed alignment.
Vehicle is functioning as designed
Also replaced front half shafts for customer's clicking noise on turns (removed wheels, torque strut, tie rods and old half shafts)
Also replaced 3 door handle lights
For a car that is a year old with 16k miles I find this to be unacceptable...

I am in the same situation. I have owned the car now for 13 months and have 14k on it. I also complained of the engine noise problem early on and they didn't hear it. Now they are doing the same repair you described. Do you think we have a case for replacement or are we stuck with our brand new rebuilt motors? I love my car but I feel like I bought a beta version. I'm driving a 2016 c300 4matic (loaner) that drives like a dream. My car has become sluggish over the past months, rattles from interior panels, speaker rattles, wind noise and misaligned rear bumper that no one seems to acknowledge and have at least 5 weeks in the first year that my car was in the dealer for one repair or another. What do you guys think my chances are of MBUSA making this right?
Thanks

If this were my car, I'd be talking to the dealership about a buyback or asking for a great deal on a 2016...
...or this would be the last Mercedes I'd ever buy.
Totally unacceptable to put up with this crap on a new vehicle.

I get what sounds like heat shield tinny rattling at start up, lasts from 20-60 seconds and goes away. Not that bothered, the car is not a keeper as I'll be going back to BMW at the end of the deal. Car is lovely, but I just enjoy BMW more so even if it's gudgeon pins I'll live with it. It's under warranty and I'd rather not have the engine ripped apart.

Mercedes needs to stand behind that slogan "The Best or Nothing" and compensate the vehicle owner in some way shape or form...no ifs, ands, or buts.

Thanks to this website, I realized that the noise in my 2015 C300 (August 2014 build) engine was not "normal." MB Silver Spring (they provide great service, btw) has confirmed it is the wrist pin problem and is repairing it per the TSB. Other problems I've had:
1. bleeding MB-Tex -- seat covers replaced under warranty;
2. recall for potential fuel gauge short -- repaired under warranty;
3. recall for suspension nut -- replaced under warranty;
4. recall for steering software -- updated under warranty;
5. one exterior door handle light out -- replaced under warranty;
6. squealing brakes when cold -- front pads replaced with new shimmed pads under warranty;
7. squeaking/rattling windows -- MB lube applied by dealer under warranty;
8. misaligned taillights/bumper -- no joy; got the runaround from MB EuroMotors (my original dealer; poor service department) and MBUSA; not fixed;
9. one runflat sidewall bulge -- blamed on road hazard; replaced at my cost.
There were probably a couple of other things I can't recall offhand.
Yes, there are definitely some teething problems with the 2015 C300. I'm not happy with them. On the other hand, the number of problems is not materially different from those in my 2002 Cooper S which, once the initial problems/recalls were resolved, provided 10 years of trouble-free fun.

It took mine two days short of four weeks. That included ten days to obtain parts. (That delay shouldn't have happened. The dealer should have called me when they found they weren't going to get the parts in the 2-3 days they originally thought. Then they would have called me when the parts came in.) Other owners are now reporting that parts are no longer a significant cause of delay. However, some owners are still reporting overall repair times even longer than I experienced.

Has anyone who has had this engine rebuild asked for or been offered any compensation from MB? I would think that the least that MB should do is give an extended warranty on the engine. IMHO, an engine that has been disassembled and rebuilt in the shop will not be as reliable as one that is assembled at a new car engine factory. There are just too many opportunities for errors in the shop that are very unlikely in the factory build process. These errors can manifest themselves short term or long term and the possibilities are numerous.
I am pretty sure that my C300 has this wrist pin problem (1/15 build) and I am appalled that that I own a new car that needs its engine rebuilt due to engineering mistakes. I’ll find out for sure later this week when I go in for my first service at 8100 miles.

So far, the car runs real good and there is no weird noise from the engine. In fact, you would never know the engine has been tampered with, except the problem noise is gone.

It took 1.5 months for me for the engine rebuild. Waiting for parts was the delay. Also, waiting for certain tools (I guess cause it was the first one the dealership did?)
I am still waiting for acoustic glass. Supposedly coming from Germany. That has been over a month. That reminds me, I should email my SA and see if it has come in yet.

Are dealers able to do quality engine rebuilds?

It looks like I have the wrist pin issue as well. Just waiting for the dealer to call me back to confirm. I dropped it off last night as I wanted them to check it out in the morning as the noise is most prevalent on morning cold starts. They said the tech heard the noise but wants to have the head tech (who's already done 3 of these rebuilds), check it out to confirm. Mine is a 2015 C300 with an early Feb 15 build. Man, I'm glad I leased this car - if I had bought it I'd be pissed! At least with the lease in 2 years when I turn it in it will be their problem then. Truly unacceptable for new Mercedes to have to deal with this!

I dropped off my C300 on Tuesday so they could check it Wednesday morning. It was pounding rain so they asked that I video record the noise and to come back.
I don't have much hope though, they disregarded my report of wind noise, keyless go not always working, the transmission shifting hard from 1-2 & 2-3, & they didn't do a Nav Update saying the next update isn't until June. My car was built in Jan '15.
