Having just driven my new C450 home from the dealer after acquiring it, I can say that I enjoyed the five hour drive immensely and can confirm the exhaust noise is real in every way. I loved my BMW Z4 35is and it has a mean sound but it was half authentic and half piped in. The 450 in sport plus is all growl and pop. No fake trickery here.

My experience is that regular driving in Sport+(auto) the gears shift too early(2.5K RPM) to really get to hear the crackle from the exhaust.
Does anybody else notice being in 4th gear at 20mph? I can't see the gears unless in manual mode but I counted and I find the shifting in auto a bit premature.
To really enjoy the snaps & crackles, I manually shift.

Does it shift as 2500rpm when you're heavy on the accelerator? It should hold until much higher >4000rpm in Sport+. Light input on the accelerator may allow it to shift early, I'm not sure about that.
What about WOT? If you have it in auto and floor it from a dead stop, is it still shifting this early? At WOT in sport plus it should always be shifting just prior to red-line not at 2500rpms. If it shifts like this at WOT in sport or sport+, you should take it in and get the transmission checked out.
This car's tranny in auto and Sport/Sport+ should always be able to outperform the manual shift mode.
So I tried to update my interior to Silver Carbon Fiber trim today (from Brown Linden Wood) to go with my Designo Saddle Brown, as my dealer called yesterday and said my build would be locking down Saturday and today would be the last day I could make a change.
Looks like they locked it early today (he said they almost always do it on Saturday). He is reaching out to a colleague in Germany to inquire about pushing the change through...said he likely won't hear back until Monday on if it's able to be done or not.
Kind of sucks if it won't be able to go through, especially now that I had just gotten myself excited for the Silver CF rather than the wood.

WOT definitely causes for later shifts but just regular city driving it shifts the same time as comfort mode. I would have much rather had the shifting in sport+ around 3.5K-4.5K for regular city driving.
All good tho.

Is he BSing you? Cuz our C450s are built in Alabama and MBUSA is not managed by MB of Germany
Just got my wheels powder coated gloss black. TailLights tinted including mirror blinkers and wrapped the chrome on the door handles, trunk, front splitter, front grill, and rear diffuser, and side rocker inserts in black gloss vinyl. What are your thoughts?
Your car looks special and individual looks good
I also smoked the tail lights on mine c250

Don't believe so, he's been to the AMG plant and MB HQ many times, believe he has some valuable contacts there now. My guess is that he's seeing if he can get around their stupid "once it's locked it's locked" policy by going to him. Who knows.
We'll see, I've come to terms with however it works out. At this point I like both options, however it finalizes is in fates hands haha
Yeah I was relieved when I called to change color and trim and they told me I was locked out. Sometimes there are no bad choices, just different choices. Happy I didn't change as well.
Flagman,
Where did you copy that verbiage in red from? My dealer is very confused, I would like to send them a link to that page. Even after driving my car and a new one from the lot. Asking "So, is it the sound inside you are not hearing or the sound outside?" Uh yeah, no sound at all fellas. That and it hangs at high RPM...
It came from this article, which quotes the MB press release. It may take some time but I'm sure the exact MB source can be tracked down.
Was there an issue with the Meisterschaft exhaust on Cajun's car?
Yeah it was too quiet, because his car is not "Code 165" like Sma2c's car LOL
Actually, I was also wondering what's up with Cajun's car. I believe he has now had his car back for a few weeks - it's not like him to keep us in suspense!
Some of you read of the roundabout way I went to getting into my C450 - I finally got the car I wanted and this weekend had the chance to take some pics. Not quite as skilled in my capture as "Knowledge", but I was channeling those pics when I captured these. I may take more in the future.
A menace at dusk...
Love the alcantara wheel...
This pic makes me consider lowering her...
Sunset shows off the carbon fiber.
Love the eyebrow LED.
A bit of brightwork on the wheels keeps them from being too dark.
Yup.
Plush and classy.
Sounds nice
Out with the old (BMW Z4 35is, lease ends in May) and in with the new.
