Is it bad that I use remote start to warm up car for 10 min (MAX) so that hot air gets blowing in the cabin so I can get in be warm and drive away? Its a lease anyway..

Why does the car extend gear changes and rev to high rpm's when the engine is cold? Did anyone notice that with all new cars?

We've posted about this somewhere else as well. There are a couple of reviews including the Daily News review that states it does have an LSD, but almost every other one states that it does not. The MB Brochure, like most of the reviews states it does not. Someone can put one up on stands or a lift and verify, but I'm pretty sure there is none, and as noted, it uses the torque vectoring braking to kinda-sorta stand in for it.

But it will warm up the inside, so have at it if you want.

2 - Transmissions shift higher when they are cold to speed up the warm up of things for emissions, and it as an added bonus it will help get other components like coolant (and thus your heater) up to temp quicker.

If you want to warm the car for your own personal comfort, go ahead, that's fine. The point I was making is that the car does not need it

It's only bad in that it shouldn't take more than five minutes

It's actually very bad to warm up your car at idle. If you do it every once in a while, no big deal. But every day for 4 months through winter, you're really screwing things up. dumping fuel into cold cats, washing the cylinder walls down, and running ineffective oil through the motor. Over time, this can be devastating to the longevity of the motor and components. Don't believe me? Ask any engineer that has the slightest clue how an ICE works.

I understand the reasoning to have your car warm up at idle for 10 minutes and have it warm and ready for you to jump it, but grow a pair man. Seriously, I expect this from my girlfriend, but that is ridiculous coming from a guy.

If you drive the car with a little load on it for just a couple blocks, you'll warm the engine up just as fast as idling for 5 minutes and 5 years from now, the engine will still hold great compression.

But I'm guessing people like you don't really care about "5 years down the line" since you're lease will be up and you'll be on to screwing up your next lease...

I have grown a pair, and I'd like them in top shape , and not frozen, no cryogenics please... It was like 20 degrees over here a few days ago.. If its my ***** over the ball bearings, well you know what I'd choose.. warranty will cover any damage..

edit: I guess I will try not to ruin the performance on the car.. I do want to enjoy it while I have it.. so I'll dial down on the remote starts..

On the really cold mornings, I've tried the remote start a few times actually. I really wish that it didn't shut off when you open/unlock the car. I wish it just stayed on and you could get in and go. But shutting off and having to restart it is a deal breaker for me. I live on the 4th floor, so it would be nice to time out a routine so that I can remote start the car, walk down to my car and get in, having it started and warmed up for 30-60 seconds before I get there. Oh well.

Seriously? How does the fact that the engine shuts down when doors are unlocked affect any routine you might have? It literally adds 1-2 seconds of time for you to hit the Start button in your car once you get in...

it's not about the time issue it's about the wear and tear on the car. Even though this is a lease and I'm probably gonna turn it in three years I still can't double the amount of cold starts like that. Just an OCD thing I guess

Dealer inventory on the C43 seems to be stupidly low right now. 0 or 1 car at all local dealers. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Wheel Fitament

Anybody know if the following would fit 2016 C450 stock suspension

19x8.5" wheels
et35

Pretty sure they will fit up front but want some input on the rear

Isn't the front 19x7.5? I believe fitment for the front is actually tighter on the 450/43 than the rear.

It's such a hot car right now that they just can't keep them in stock? Possibly. When I purchased my c450, there were none in Utah. I had to have it shipped from SoCal where they had hundreds siting around.

I guess, but I haven't really seen them around here. So seems odd... I'm tempted to just place a custom order, but then I likely have to wait 3 months. Going to stop by the dealer tomorrow to see how long the wait is right now.

why not do what I did and have one shipped from another dealer? Most will cover all shipping costs and that way you can pick from a plethora of choices to get just what you want without having to wait 3+ months for a custom ordered car.

Or fly in and drive it home. I did end up building my C300 but there were a couple of things that vastly sped up delivery. I ordered the car from Mercedes Of Montgomery, which is around 4 hours from the plant. My rep first searched the factory system to find a car that was already set for a build in a couple of weeks but whose configuration hadn't been locked. The car was allocated as general inventory to a different dealer but after a quick call that dealer traded it for a future allocation. I had the car in around eight weeks.

My sediments exactly...Mercedes optioned the car with remote start, and they will cover any engine damage through warranty.

Last Friday it was 3 degrees F when I woke up for work...damn straight I used the the remote start function...too bad remote start isn't more reliable though, but that's another story...

"Sediments"? LOL! Now I understand the mental capacity that I'm dealing with here.

Engine damage from extended idling on cold starts won't happen within your warranty; or even an extended warranty. This is damage that will not be realized until well after 100k. Good luck to the guy 15 years from now trying to get MB to replace his compression-less motor under warranty because they gave you an app that starts your car so your delicate little girl butt doesn't have to sit in a cold car for 3 minutes until it warms up. Pathetic.

I didn't buy my vehicle to please the next owner, I bought it for myself.

But please, continue being an a$$hole...
