2016 C450 AMG
Hey everyone, new guy here. I've owned a lot of Geman vehicles over the years -- Porsche, Audi, BMWs, and am happy to say I just added my 1st Mercedes to the garage, a 2016 C450 AMG!

I've been daily driving an SUV (Porsche Cayenne) for the past few years and decided it was time to get back into a car. I test drove several vehciles before deciding on the C-Class -- Audi A4 / A6, BMW 3, and have to say the new C has the best interior and all around driving dynamics.

Unfortuantnly I didn't have the time to do a custom order, although I was able to find a car that checked almost everything I wanted (all that was missing was the heads up display) at local dealer. The car has:

- Black
- Black Leather
- Black Ash Wood
- Night Package
- 19" Multispoke Wheels
- AMG Performance Steering Wheel
- AMG Performane Seats
- Red Seatbelts
- Heated Seats
- Lighting Package
- Multimedia Package
- Performance Package 2
- Hands Free Package

Attached is a pic from the dealer lot, it was too dark to take any more when I got home today.

I'm planning to get the windows tinted this weekend, and will post a few more pics as soon as I can. Looking forward to joining in on some of the conversations.

Almost Freaked out when pumping gas in my C450 for the first time. For the life of me the pump could not be removed. It was stuck solid; twisting, turning, pulling, etc., I could not get the pump to extract. Standing at the pump, trying to youtube a solution for 10 minutes I discovered that a lot of Fords have this issue. It's associated with capless systems. Granted, the Merc is not cap less. One of the solutions was to push the pump in deeper to dislodge the ring then pull out. OMG, it worked!

I hope this helps some of you. Basically don't shove the pump all the way into the hole as you do with most cars.

A photo of the area that gets stuck is shown. Hopefully, this helps someone.

Hello, I'm new here.. I have a cardinal red c450 that is on order since end of August that should be coming by the end of this month..I have a question about about NOT having the multimedia package..Will my iPod be able to connect to the basic system with a cable? Or only by Bluetooth? Also do you think Mercedes will produce a power package like BMW just did for the 340? Thank you

Enjoy your deliveries.

My order is only 5 days old and I'm wondering if I change the ash wood inserts by carbon inserts because I found them more sporty in this model. The probleme is the price diff is more than 700 EUR and I already stretched my budget !!

The orher reason why i want to change is for car celan up: the carbon comes with metal inserts on front and rear doors which are very easy to clean unlike the wood that will be more fragile (I have kids !!)

I have to decide but your opinions will help

A++

I had the same exact questions my friend!
At first I wanted to go with the white/black Designo interior. Then I imagined what it's going to turn into after my kids, 5 and 7, ride in the car; especially in winter! I decided to go with black leather without the red stitching because I think it's classy; I prefer the already very sporty exterior, I prefer the interior to be more luxury than sporty hence the no red stitching.
The trim was an easier decision. Leaning more toward luxury, carbon fiber trims weren't even considered. I also don't like fingerprints on the trim. With all glossy surfaces, I think fingerprints will be inevitable. I chose the ash wood.
As the result my configuration is Polar White exterior and jet black interior.
PS. Looking forward to taking delivery today!

Congrats on the new order! Red should look sharp!

I did not order the multimedia package on my vehicle and you can use bluetooth to hook-up an iPod or iPhone. I just wanted navigation and not the larger screen so this option worked-out well so far. The Garmin MapPilot so far works pretty well.

I purchased 5 Pirelli run flat tires from 1010Tires in Canada since TR does not have as good of selection. I hope they have the tires in stock and end the nightmare. Anyone searching for winter tires best of luck hopefully TR will have some options very soon.

Description: Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 Tires 225/40R19 XL (Runflat) 93H
Item: #2530600

As follow-up on my winter tire fiasco :www: , I wound-up going with my 19" OEM rims and purchasing 6 Non-RF @ 225/40R-19 PIRELLI WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 XL from TireRack. I carry an air compressor in the trunk in case of a slow leak emergency.

I would have liked to have 18" RF tires/rims but until TR and 1010Tires can scan a C450 for measurements this appears the best option is use the current OEM rims that were ordered with the car.

I even looked at OEM 18" rims (~$1,200/each) that are all on back-order from Germany for C450 production.

Thanks for following up, I wondered what had happened.

I am going through the same process right now as I have 19" rims too. I am going with either the Blizzak or the Pirelli Sottozero regular tires. Apparently Pirelli isn't even manufacturing the Sottozero runflats until late Nov/early Dec due to some production issues, at least that's what the owner of the local tire outfit is telling me (not chain store).

I was going to get just 4 x 225/40R19 winter tires and a small compressor for slow leaks too. If there's a blowout of the sidewall then the car will just have to be towed, there's no way around it from what I can see.

Sorry for the lack of replies on my part. It has been pretty crazy at work. Hopefully Tmoney and Viper have been keeping the thread alive in my absence.

I tried numerous attempts to get run flats on the car but nothing prevailed. I had the 18" RF tires with no rims or 19" rims with no RF tires. The Sotto Zero 3's are rated very high so we'll see. If I am not happy with them then I may jump on the run flats when they are available with the staggered rears. From what I understand there is little give in the sidewall with run flats so I would need to purchase the RF's with OEM tire specs.

^ excited to see if another big gun like OE Tuning can throw up a chart with their flash installed...what's good to see is the potential of the motor, especially when you look at the OE flash on a similar powertrain (GL450) showing +100 whp +120 wtq on 91 octane...seeing as how I would run 93 those numbers would be slightly higher..

Additionally, and now I might be bench racing a bit, but 100whp equates to roughly 10 mph in the 1/4 mile, so let's say then this car would be in the 118 range on that 91 octane flash? So then 93 octane...and something a little higher?

That's quick.
Looks like are buddies at Brabus are hot on the trail for the C450 tune as well!!!

yes I think the m278 engine is a 4.6L and the m276 is a 3.0 liter. I think that's right

2016 C450
So last night I met up with a few BMW M3 guys. We went for a little run. Knowing that the c450 is not on the same level as the M3 it was for research and not to see who would win. From a slow roll the M3 immediately launched ahead to pull a few cars ahead but did not continue to pull away as we would have though. After swapping driver we came to a conclusion that if given enough length ( we did not have enough safe road to continue the research) the c450 seems to almost start to creep on the M. The power on the c450 feels like a endless power band that just keeps going. I'm waiting for a little more info to come out on these chips before I get one.

Depends what year m car you are talking about. The e92 m3 coupe is slow. It's a v8 non turbo. My 335i tuned could run all over It. The 2016 m3 sedan or m4 coupe are 6cyl turbo charged and put down to the ground what is stated to the crank by BMW. I think that number is over 400hp. The 2016 models are a good competitor for the c63s. The new m2 is quicker than any m3/m4.

You are right though the c450 has a nice power band. It just pulls with ease after you get on it. However it lacks the torque of the M cars that throws you back in your seat.

Given this car is new in its first production year, we will probably not see a wide variety of flashes or piggy backs until year 2 of this car. The e92 platform of the BMW was around about 6-7 years and had many different tuning options closer to the middle of the platform.

Given that the most notable Benz tuners are kleeman, Renntech and brabus and only renntech has a flash out for the c450, there are more products to come. Also there is vivid racing but nobody has any positive feedback yet from that product. There could be other entrants as well like OE tuning. So in short you will just have to wait and see.

I had the badges from the fenders removed before I picked up the car. I considered placing one of them on the door covering the cupholders. It looks from here like the same badge and I could still put one there, but have decided not to.

I too am going to wait for more data rather than just jumping on a flash. I hope to get a full ECU flash as opposed to a piggyback system since I have gathered a normal ECU flash will put down more power than a plug and play system.

The second thing is, how do we get this exhaust system to be louder? The mufflers near the tailpipes seem to be where the sound is hidden yet no one has found a good replacement for them.

After talking to a few friends at a shop not too far from home, they said the best bet for this car will be a ECU flash and maybe a CAT-BACK exhaust (for sound rather than meaningful gains). Furthermore, they said they will have a look underneath for me in the near future and see what we can do about modifying the already badass stock exhaust on this thing to open up. Is there just a valve that opens when switching to sport and sport plus? If so I am going to figure out how to just leave it open.

**I am assuming we can get some nice power after a true ECU flash, the stout Mercedes engine/tranny and the fact that it's a twin turbo V6 suggests this thing can be made sneaky fast. We will indeed wait and see.

I agree that an ECU flash is the way to go. I plan on waiting at least a year and see what the tuners can develop. I think it is very early in the game to jump on anything. At least the big-guns are involved so there must be untapped power.

Designo brown

Haven't heard of many posters here with the designo brown seats. In fact I've seen very few online.

I'd like some feeback from posters with the seats and how they like them, and maybe why people didn't order theirs with them. Is it the cost of the seats that's the biggest detractor?

Thanks.
