Does anyone here live in a condo and has successfully programmed the garage door opener to open the communal gates?

I live in Canada (which I know the manual says has finicky remote controls). Just spent about half an hour sitting in my car pushing buttons with no result. I've tried pushing it down for two seconds at a time to cycle it. Still no dice.

Any tips?

Call Homelink while you're in your car. They may be able to walk you through the settings. Seems like the written instructions from MBZ are often incorrect.

Watch the on-line video at MBUSA. I had no problem programming the remote at my house (after watching the video...the manual was no help), but had difficulty with another location. Problem resolved when I replaced the battery in the remote, which is the first tip in the video.

I was able to successfully program it, like PeteInGilroy mentioned I watched the video on MBUSA and then tried it in the car, worked first try.

as the manual says, canadian door openers tend to be rolling code units and so you need to not only program the mb button you also have to shortly after press the teaching button on the actual door opening motor.

The instructions in our manual were wrong. Tech came to the house and programmed it no charge.

My mirror garage door opener seems to only function 80% of the time. 20% of the time, it (light under mirror) flashes like it should, but no response from the door until I find my opener in the center consul. Interestingly, that button seems more recessed than any of the other two, so maybe something internal is loose.

I will program another button and see if the same thing happens with it before complaining to the dealer.

Does anybody know why garage door opener function isn't available in Australia? I was really looking forward to this feature, but merc dealer told me it isn't available...

I'm going to try again tonight with the instructions in the video on the mbusa site, but I don't think it's very different from what I did. Might be the crap garage door opener that the house's previous owner 'upgraded' to.
