With Keyleyss go option, hit the start engine button without holding down brake (do not start the car), change agility to sport+. Start the car with a more throaty exhaust sound

I agree 100%... the Hold feature is in lieu of keeping your foot on the brake pedal (which you would have to do in all other cars without this feature). When your foot is on the brake pedal, naturally your brake lights are on... when the car in front of you is stopped without illuminated brake lights you assume their foot is off of the brake pedal (and most likely about to accelerate) or their car is in park or stalled out (usually hazards on).

I, and most people, want the car behind me to know that I am not moving/accelerating or about to move when you are at a light. The only time I would ever consider putting the car in park (no brake lights illuminated) while on a road is in extremely heavy traffic when you cannot move (eg. motor vehicle accident when cars are at a complete standstill). I do not know of anyone that has an issue with illuminated brake lights in front on them even in NY (other than they hate being in traffic... I would not be offended by brake lights). I like the C-class brake lights

Same here. Tried it to no avail then asked myself why would it anyway? It's not the same conditions as when accelerating and shifting around 4k RPM to get that sound in sports+.

If the car is running and the person with the key leaves the car, the car immediately says Key Not Detected on the dash screen and it beeped and kept beeping until the key was back in the car. I would believe then the car can not be engaged to move unless the key is detected. And that applies to the key that started the car. I was in one of ours and had the key to both with me. My partner left the car with the key in his pocket and even though I had a key to the car, the car immediately posted the Key Not Detected in the dash. Pretty smart these things are!

For those with Keyless-Go, your SmartKey is always "broadcasting" its coded signal. To save some battery life (and also maybe for security reasons, what with hackers stealing everything electronic), you can easily stop the SmartKey from sending out the wireless signal by hitting the Door Lock button twice in succession. The little red LED on the SmartKey flashes twice quickly and then stays lit for a second or so. You just have to remember to hit any SmartKey button to reactivate the wireless signal before you approach your vehicle. I turned the signal off on my spare key to save the battery. I also got in the habit of turning it off on the key I carry as soon as I exit the car and lock it.

That's neat! Didn't know that. Thanks for posting that tip. Have you experienced how much longer your keyfob batteries last doing this?

Thank you. I will try this out tonight. If this is true, it will reduce the number of battery replacements for my spare key.

I've heard that the car will continue to run/drive until the car is turned off. Once turned off though, the car will not start without the key.

I so cant let it sit while running them. thanks!

I was on the phone canceling my trial of mbrace last night and the woman asked why I wanted to cancel, and I said because I got my new car 6 months ago and now they are giving away basic mbrace for free for 5 years, and also said I was disappointed that they cant update my car with remote start. However she said that the car has to have a remote start module built into it? any one know if this is true?

Correct - I know this because I gave my key to my missus, to open the doors up as she was getting back to the car before me, at the weekend.

When we got home, she got out and went indoors. The car drove fine, when I was driving into the garage, just bongs and warning messages up.

That was my argument as well when I pre-canceled my mbrace subscription.

No remote start...no renewal of mbrace...buh bye...

Yea, that would be horrible to get stolen that way lol.

For the remote start, sadly it is more than just a button or even a plug/module. It requires complete rewire of the whole car, handles, etc. Someone in the C63 forums tried going this route and was told that the whole car had to be stripped, rewired, new parts for handles and other areas. As you can imagine the price was in the thousands for such a thing.

There's a place here in Mass that will install remote start in a 2015 W205, but it involves dropping the car off for 3 days while they remove the starter module & send it to Chicago for modification...and the total cost...$1,300, plus one of your FOBs (sacrificed for parts), and a rental car for three days.

I stopped caring after the $1,300 figure was said...

Actually, I've only had the car for a month - not long enough to wear out the keyfob battery yet! It really may not matter much with the key I use every day, but to have the spare key sitting in the drawer at home broadcasting its signal 24/7 seemed a bit daft.

All, I started a thread in amg section you guys might want to check out that is similar to this. I added AMG_BUFF's advice as well. Please note that I did gave a general credit to all readers and contributors. If you like me to mention your handle, I'd be happy to.

I noticed if I hold either of the shift paddle for a little longer it does the following.

1. while cruising, holding the downshift paddle will downshift to the lowest gear possible. I thought it was broken when it happened accidentally.
2. while in manual mode, hold the upshift paddle will bring it back to auto.

For those upset about not having the remote start function, don't feel too bad. It honestly works less than 50% of the time for me. So I stopped using it altogether....
