Heated Steering Wheel finally

Seems like heated steering will finally be available to be optioned soon. Thank you MB

Quote from Press Release:

Enhanced equipment and appointments
The new C-Class models can be fitted if required with such options as a head-up display, a touchpad and a wide range of intelligent driver assistance systems. Mercedes-Benz has also very recently extended the range of equipment and appointment options, which now include a heated steering wheel and a revised choice of trims.

How soon is soon for the heated steering wheel? I wonder if I can add this new option to my ordered 2015 C300 coming in June?

I am guessing that NA markets will only see the heated steering wheel option starting with the MY16 production run. (But you should ask your dealer to confirm)

It's gotta be bone chilling cold to need a heated steering wheel. Living in South Florida I can't relate.

If you live where it gets very cold, a heated steering wheel is one of those options that once you had it, there's no going back!

My current 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is the first vehicle that I've owned that has a heated steering wheel, and I love it since I don't like wearing gloves when I drive. In addition, when I remote start my Jeep in the Winter, the heat, heated drivers seat AND heated steering wheel all come on too (below 37 degrees F)...so the vehicle is all warm and cozy by the time I get in it. A remote start in the Summer turns on the A/C and ventilated driver's seat as well.

Too bad the V6 transmissions are so crappy.

A heated front windscreen would be nice too. I had one on a Mini Cooper and it was a godsend on frosty mornings.

My Overland still feels like the best car I've ever purchased in terms of features included for price.... the remote start tied to all the heating and cooling functions is amazing, infotainment is amazing, I have the HEMI and love it... crazy how much more you need to spend to get anywhere close to the same feature set in another car.

It is so good to see Mercedes rolling out more options for the C-Class. People are willing to pay so why hold back? Mini S-Class all the way.

My 2008 Escalade had heated steering wheel, there were some discussion on retrofit, all you really need is the entire steering wheel and some programming.

Now for Mercs it should be the same or similar, since the heating unit is without a question in the steering wheel, so in my opinion it may be a simple swap.

What about a heavy gauge wire for the power source? Seems to me the retrofit would have to reach further into the car than just the steering hub.

Where is that little blurb taken from?

EDIT: found it http://media.daimler.com/dcmedia/0-9...=1428539109627

what worries me is that this information cannot be found on the MBUSA media website so that option might be euro only?

The US configurator does not show any new options, trim combinations, or the heated steering wheel. Has anything changed in other markets?

The UK configurator seems to be down so perhaps it is being updated for a few things - this being one of them...?

I got this answer from MB USA.

Dear sir,

thanks for your inquiry.
The Heated Steering Wheel – amongst some other new options – will be available with MY16 only on the C-Class Sedan in the United States and Canada.

In case of further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Just been on the MB German website. Looks like if you spec the heated steering wheel on AMG lines you will lose that Flat bottom steering wheel. The button for turning on the heated wheel is located on the end of the stalk that you to adjust the steering wheel prosition.

The MB C class configurator for the UK is back online now after a week ish of being unavailable. I can't see any difference tbh and the heated steering wheel is still not an option within the configurator for the UK.

I noticed that too Maniac. I was hoping it would have some new toys on there but nothing.

They are still in the process of updating the website. Note that where you select the engine page only C200d as the letter D on the end, all diesels models will now just come with the letter D and not CDI.

There are a few changes on the UK configurator that I've spotted:

1. Increased prices. Most options seem to be the same price, though the Driving Assistance Pack has gone up by £200. It's also listed twice in the options area for some reason! The base car prices have gone up as well, of course.

2. You can no longer add the Burmester or Comand Online options separately - if you do, it tells you that you need to add the rest of the Premium Plus pack as well. This conflicts with what the brochure says - the PDF on the MB UK web site still lists them as being available separately (p43). Strangely, the sunroof is still available as a stand-alone option. The configurators in Ireland, France and Germany allow you to add Comand and Burmester without the rest of the PPlusP.

This would be an issue for me; the memory pack, ambient lighting and keyless-go options don't hold any attraction at all, but the sunroof could be a deal breaker. I really don't want it at all: I wouldn't use it and prefer the looks of the car with a conventional roof.

I have sent a query to MB UK customer service, but they haven't got back to me yet. I very much want my next car to be a C Class, but having to have four out of six options from the Premium Plus Pack that I don't want (to varying degrees) may make me reconsider.
