Disappointed with fake exhaust tips
I have just taken delivery of the C200 Bluetec (1.6 diesel) AMG Line in the UK. The excitement of receiving the car was soon dampened when I noticed the exhaust pipe tips were blanked off. I thought I had seen real ones I a show room. My car is a company lease.
I have read elsewhere that this has something to do with diesels etc...but I just saw an E Class E220 CDI 2014 model today that had real and visible double exhausts.
Anybody feel the same way or have any thoughts?

Mercedes C200 (W205) Avantgarde petrol RWD
I didn't realise at the time when I purchased that the exhaust tips were fake/faux and was a bit perplexed when I washed the car for the first time lol. On the bright side- they're easy to keep clean

My C200 petrol has twin exhaust tips. The surrounds are part of the bumper but the main exhausts feed into them underneath. I suspect that diesels point their exhaust to the floor?

I wish had known that...I didn't choose the Sport trim because of the faux vanity trim thinking I was going for real exhaust tips or at least active surrounds. Yes it is only on one side and facing down. Never mind heh....but are people sure that this faux issue is also the case with the c220 and c250 bluetecs??

MB W204, VW Polo, Audi R8 V10 - SOLD.
See my thread linked below for more information. It depends on what trim you have on the car for the petrol engine but diesels are fake/faux.

Merc GLC Coupe 250d AMG Line Prem Plus
I only found out from a page on this forum about a month ago, even after receiving my c220 amg line in jan. Only the 250s in the UK have the actual pipes. Lucky diesel cars dnt really give off anything from the pipes. Disappointed myself, but not the worse thing about this car lol.

Surprised me as well. I had thought that all C250's had real tips - turns out the diesel doesn't, even with the AMG line. Oh well.. as Boudicca said, at least they're easy to keep clean.

Euro 6 cars with Adblue (Bluetec versions), when cleaning the DPF emit baking air (800 degrees). This would melt the plastic bumper. Due to that pipe (or pipes) are down-facing. It is the same in other cars (ex. my father's New Passat). CDI engines havn't got this problem as they are Euro 5 and do not use the Bluetec technology. That's all.

2014 BMW 520d xDrive, MB W205 C200 AMG Line
You might be right, but at least in our 2014 BMW 520d, which is EU6 and uses adblue, exhaust are NOT downward facing.

There is a whole thread on this somewhere. Pics & all. Many diesel models & more basic spec gasoline models come with the vanity panel or blocked exhausts.

Lol...I suppose you are right. Thanks all for your input....I guess I ought to enjoy the car for what it is! Another topic altogether...but I actually DO notice a difference between the Agility select options(no airmatic) especially in the throttle response despite my tiddly engine!! At least that os a good thing
