Windows down using Key fob outside of car?
Have you had any success getting the four windows to open automatically using the unlock button on the key fob (from outside the car)? I like to have the windows open to release the heat from the interior before I get in.
I've only been able to get it to work when I stand right next to the driver's door. And sometimes I have to push the unlock button several times before it opens all the windows.
Just wondering...

Thanks for the reply. I've just noticed that it is really finicky and I sometimes have to be standing right next to the car and I have to push the open/close button several times...if not more.

MB W204, VW Polo, Audi R8 V10 - SOLD.
If this is anything like the w204 then there is an infrared transmittor at the end of your keyfob that has to point at the receiver on the driver'd door handle. Do this while you hold down the unlock button (or lock to put the windows up) and see if that helps.
Think of it like turning the volume up or down on your TV using your remote. It won't work unless you point at the right part of the TV.
Give that a try and let us know what happens.

There is mention of this convenience feature in my US owner's manual on page 98. I think you have to have keyless entry to have this feature. It's nice when it works.

I just played with it a little more and you HAVE to have your key fob pointed (small end with lock button) directly at the door handle. Worked perfectly doing that.

My W205 doesn't have the same black IR receiver that my W204 had. I tested and I can roll them down with the remote while its inside my jeans pocket, so no real chance IR is involved. I did notice I can only do it when I'm within about 6 feet of the car, so I suspect it's based on proximity as well as the RF signal.

Seems you need to be reasonably close to the car.

My guess re the distance thing is they do it to prevent accidental operation.
My BMW for example will open its Windows from a huge distance away. Great you might say... But I've come back to the car on several occasions where the windows are wide open because I've been sat nearby and the key was pressed in my pocket by accident.

you shouldn't have to be next to the drivers door, but you need to be close to the car. even if the remote is unlocking the door the windows wont go down for security reasons? anyway kinds defeats the purpose of venting the car if you have to wait until you are almost in it

Just bought first MB . 2016 c220. No convenience window opening. Looked in the user manual. It is part of the Keyless Go option. My key has it sender ok, but no receiver on the driver door handle, little rectangle next to keyhole. This I think is my problem, MB made convenience/ summer opening part of a optional package.

+1 Anyone figure out how to change this? I'm usually already at my car by the time the sunshade opens, then the sunroof, then the windows. Seem like have the windows open first would be more logical.

3rd party convenience window opening device
I've just come across this €62/$67 device, overplugs into the control wiring in the drivers door and gives remote key convenience or summer opening of Windows. I don't have it on mine, its part of keyless go package, but a lot of W205 C class in UK and Ireland have a normal key turn to start, so would be affected. I'll order one and try it.
