SiriusXM - best packages & pricing?
My SiriusXM trial ends in May. Has anybody in the US received a great price on a package to continue their service? If so, do you mind if I ask what you paid and for how long?
I want to make sure I get the best deal and I've seen quite a difference in some of the packages.
I know it depends on what channels I want and I'm still trying to decide.
Thank you.

They'll usually offer a $25/6 month package to keep you on, which is cheaper than their typical $90 annual promotional package. You should get something in the mail or by email. If not, call them. You MUST ask for the best deal available or it won't be offered to you unless you already have one of those special offers in hand. If they say there are no promotions available, you have to ask them to cancel your account because of the high price. Then, you'll get another rep who will offer you the promotional rates.
If you use a credit card, you will be automatically billed at the full rate when your renewal is due. You then have to call them, go through the same song and dance all over again, then get the discounted terms.
It's a really annoying and frustrating system, and a real waste of time. But, unfortunately, that's how they operate. They probably get the full rate from the majority of subscribers, so I doubt they'll be changing any time soon.
Note: Taxes are added on and will make the quoted rates higher.

I have decided not to extend because the sound quality is so unbelievably bad (super compressed). I will probably buy the traffic option. I think we get that free for three years. Is that correct?

Included with the navigation system:
"Roads, points of interest and even fuel stations are ever-changing. Periodic updates to your COMAND® navigation system's onboard database help it give you the most accurate guidance. Every new 2015 C-Class with COMAND navigation includes updates at no charge for the first three years. An update takes less than an hour for your dealer to perform, so it's convenient to have it done when you bring your vehicle in for regular maintenance service. See your dealer for more details."
"Included with the navigation system, SiriusXM Traffic keeps you up to date on accidents, traffic, construction and road closures, and even helps your vehicle's navigation system find the fastest route based on real-time traffic. SiriusXM Weather delivers detailed, graphical weather reports and forecasts, and you can even display the weather conditions on COMAND's split screen. Three years of service are included."

I turned on my SiriusXM for about 2 minutes. Once I heard the first advertisement and the sound quality I was done. I refuse to pay to listen to commercials. I remember when they had straight nonstop music. Soon they won't be any different than your local radio station.

That's odd. I have never heard any ads on Sirius/XM. I listen to it all the time, and it's always been just music, with an occasional break for a DJ on a few channels.
