Model de-badging
Apologies in advance if there is already a thread on this, but what is the best way to debadge? I really want to remove 'Bluetec' Never done it before, what is the easiest and safest way

Never done the job myself. You could do a total forum search & I'm sure you would come up with a number of methods.
Most common that I've noticed on this board is to cut the badging off with Nylon fishing line & then clean up the glue & black pad remaining with products like Goo Gone.

I must say if it were my car I think I would try waxed dental floss first after warming with a hair dryer. Feels the most gentle approach to me.

I've done the dental floss removal on previous cars I've owned. Goo Gone and a rag for the glue.
Not sure I'm going to de-badge the C400 though.. been tempted to since MB seems to have really gone cheap on the glue and the numbers/letters are all a bit 'off'.

I did dental floss and hair dryer on mine. Worked perfectly, no ghosting and the goo on the back was super easy to take off. Just used a bit of alcohol on a microfiber to get it off and it didn't leave any scratches.

I have to agree and been contemplating taking mine off as well because of that. The badges seem to sit very high - not flush at all with the panel. If you run a microfiber cloth over the top you constantly catch the edges and it's quite easy to wiggle each letter (the glue pads seem very squishy)

Came off really easy, now just to find something to remove the residue stickiness... Doesn't look like we have Goo Gone here in AUS, any other suggestions

Should put a G in front of what's left
Some metho should clear the glue away.. surely. Otherwise Bunnings has "Goof Off 475ml Adhesive Remover" for $16.25 advertised

I tried this morning with a bit of dental floss, only did the first letter, so now I am driving a LUETEC until tonight haha.

Eucalyptus oil is excellent for removing adhesive residue but I don't know how safe it is for the paintwork.....so that wasn't very helpful really

Looks good, My W205 is polar white and 7 weeks old, is there a need to wax?
Was very easy to remove bluetec wording with some nylon fishing line.. letters came off instantly... peeling off the adhesive with my fingers took about 10 minutes... left a fair bit of sticky residue behind..
A little bit of "Un Du" on a cloth and it wiped instantly..

If the clearcoat is absolutely shiney with no microscratching then leave it well alone. The paint companies don't agree with the detailing industry on many of these things & I don't want to cause another WW3 on this subject. Don't do anything that breaks the original skin of the clearcoat. Nothing that contains even very mild abrasive compounds.

I just had my dealer do it. It was supposed to be done before delivery, but they forgot. It was done when I had them fix the misaligned rear panels(!). So I got to see before and after. Very satisfied - makes the rear end look a little bigger, not just cleaner. The mechanic said that mine was the third C'-Class that he had heard of having it done. This was in mid-Feb., and there were almost no C-Class on the road at that time. I still haven't seen more than 8-10 W205 C-Class, and I live in a very upscale area. 10 years ago the DMV published stats, and Mercedes was the 2nd most common marque in our town. If anything, there are more MBs now. The W204 C-Class was big seller in our area.
