That's what I read but also read that some people had it
diagnosed as something wrong with the Pistons. I plan on taking it in to get it checked out but no time. It sounds exactly as you pronounce it clak-clak-clak-clak. Just not sure if direct injection sounds like that. Of course I'm not a total know it all though.

I was googling tsb's for the car 2015 c300 and one of the tsb was this. Not sure how accurate this tsb is but kind of sounds like what some people are describing in this forum. I hope that it's just the direct injection cause this will be a lot of work for the car.

If it's the dfi is it a ticking noise and when idle?Cause from people on here and me it's like a clak-clak noise.

Taken from a poster of this forum. The sound is very noticeable not during acceleration but when letting go of the gas pedal after acceleration

The noise could be either from the fuel injector, or it could be from the Piston wrist pins in the engine. Check out my thread.

Ok long story short
Dealer told me this is caused by the space variance of the pistons and engine cover. they replace everything and I still hear the sound. After that They said the sound I heard is normal.

The funny thing is last time of maintenance they were running out of loaner and gave me a Hertz car --- corolla. I drove it for a several days and when I got back to my c300 I feel much quieter .

Yea it just doesn't seem like a Sound the injectors make especially when it only makes that noise when letting go of the gas pedal but I could be wrong. I'll get it checked out soon. Hope for good news.

its the direct injectors, very common. the reason you don't hear it when you lift off or brake is because the injectors don't inject fuel into the engine when you are coasting or braking. it is exceptionally loud in the c-class.

What do u mean by lift off? When accelerating? Or not on the gas pedal? The clak-clak-clak sound is only present when coasting

lift off means when you take your foot off of the pedal, so coasting. if you hear the clicking while coasting at above 1,100 RPM, there might be an issue. when coasting above that engine speed, the injectors turn of and there should be no clicking until returning to 1,100 rpm and below during normal engine temperatures. if the clicking is constant during warm up, that is fine because while the engine is warming up the engine obviously won't stop injecting fuel, because then it wouldn't heat up as efficiently.

Correct. Under open loop mixture enrichment there is no fuel shut off even on over run. If it's small end clatter it will only shut up once clearances have normalised on a fully warmed up engine.

Piston/Rod noise

I can confirm that noise exhibited in the video is from piston/wrist pin tolerance issue. New wrist pins went into production engines April 20th, 2015. The fix is new Pistons/Rods/and all other needed parts for that repair.

I should reiterate what others have said first, direct fuel injection does produce more noise, the system can run at pressures of up to 200 bar, ~2900 psi, though at idle it would be much lower. The piston wrist pin noise is best exhibited by revving the engine to 2000-2500, and then letting off the throttle. As the engine rpm falls, usually around 1500 the clattering will be heard. No news of a recall being issued.
It is a problem, parts availability is somewhat limited at this point. Any M274 built at the Infiniti plant in Dechard before serial number ~43000, or built in Germany before roughly serial ~400000 could develop the problem. New wrist pins went into production engines starting April 20th.

OK, thank you. Beauty of a lease is that I don't care enough to try to get the service advisor to believe me which is 99% of the battle. Just gonna let it go, especially since I believe that my noise isn't extraordinary. I hear it on my Mothers ml350 as well

Alright. I took the car in and left it overnight for the dealer. And they confirmed the sound. They said the pistons, connecting rods and other parts that are affected needs to be replaced. Will take about 1-2 weeks depending on when parts arrive.

My car has been at the dealer a few days, also awaiting pitons, rings, wrist pins etc to get this fixed. In the mean time, they did replace the rotors and pads to eliminate the cold weather squeal. Rocking a GLA loaner at the moment, not very impressed with the dual clutch 7spd in it.
