any updates for maps?
Recently went on a road trip... and saw a lot of missing map data! anyone in the US got any updates recently?
Also, anyone knows how to check for updates... for the software/maps...?

I am assuming the map update is done via the USB. However, if I am not mistaken, the new Merc models include 3 years of updates for free so they should do it while it is there for service.

My dealer was trying to tell me he still needs to order a dvd and then they load the new maps onto the hard drive. I am almost certain he's wrong but can someone confirm?
Also, any limit to the number of map updates you get for free in the three years?

the map update only comes out once a year. they are not updating it every few months. so there would be no point to go in for updates more than once year. The most recent map update should have came out in April 2015

should check out with my service center then. it's really ridiculous that after paying so much, they'd further expect people to waste time going to service center for such simple things... of-course it's good to have that as an option, but not the only one.
Also, the maps doesn't seem as competent as my garmin GPS, which can re route based on traffic situations, and doesn't even show a lot of exits/entry to freeways if I want to plan based on traffic.
@rustycruiser, how did you check your map version?

That's the same version I have on my Garmin Map Pilot.
To the much earlier comment, the map data is poor in my opinion. There are many roads that have been in existence for years that don't show on my Nav. I've ended up using my iPhone 6 Plus and Google Maps - much more comprehensive...and much, much quicker.

I've complained all the way up to Mercedes US corporate in New York about the poor maps. Nothing they are willing to do about the Garmin Map Pilot at this time. I'm hoping maybe an update or something down the road will bring the system up to current technology and standards.

Something a little off the subject - we were using the Comand Nav to go to a reception on Saturday and noticed it was not updating position in a timely fashion. In fact, we missed our last turn which took us another mile down the road before Comand (and I) realized we missed the turn. There was no "Right turn ahead in 400 feet" or anything. Anybody had this kind of issue?

I spoke to the dealers service manager about this the other day and he acknowledged that the current version is WAY out of date. Hopefully if we the customer keep playing the squeaky wheel, they'll put pressure on MBUSA to get their vendor off their *** and get the updates out! Call your friendly service manager today!

I'm in Australia and my March 2015 build Comand device has 2014 maps.... asked the dealer if there was an update and was told that's the latest. Wonder if this is how Merc offers its 3 years free map updates??

Indeed. They usually have one year, a year and a half old maps data from the maps provider (older than the latest available) at the time the maps updates are release.
No update for the W205, not even for the W222 (I guess the same database) even if the W222 has been on the market for more than a year and a half.

any updates for maps?
Went to dealer for service A since it's got 9k miles and past one year since I purchased the 14 GLK new. They said update is buying a CD and they will upload it for $45.00. I thought it was a 3 years free update. Wth?
