Air Condition/Heat slow to start

Air Condition/Heat slow to start
Has anyone noticed a long delay ( about 15-20 secs ) for the air conditioner or heating to begin.
No other car I've owned has seen a delay of any sort.

I have noticed this, but it doesnt seem to appear when starting the car after several hours standing still, but when starting the car with a "warm" engine the AC start delay appears.

Could this "delay" of the A/C or heat coming on after start-up be by design?
...so one doesn't get blasted initially with hot air during the Summer, or cold air during the Winter?

I have also noticed the same thing when turning on the A/C. It is a drawback when the car is hot and you have to wait for the A/C to start cooling the car. I normally just crank up the fan.
It would be good to know why this happens. I've never had a car do this before.

Benz builds latency into everything. Supposed to give a feeling of refinement. They want their drivers to be calm & deliberate. Part of the Benz feel.
If heating is too delayed ensure operation of the auxiliary coolant pump. Later US W204's had this removed for cost saving reasons & heaters were severely compromised.

My BMW does this..
Its due to on start up all monitored control messages / modules are checked to ensure all is ok, at that point the system (when in auto mode) will adapt..
Also, from a voltage regualtor point of view, it can take 7+ seconds for the charge voltage to stablise on start up.

Normal in that Mercedes is trying to improve mileage stats.
To me it’s annoying but there are more important things to worry about. I’m sure an independent with STAR could turn it off.
My W204 does not do this.
I can confirm that eco mode affects how soon the A/C comes on. Turn it off upon startup to maximize the cool down time.
