Mercedes Museum and Sindelfingen

Tomorrow we are invited by MB and our lease company to visit the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart and the Sindelfingen plant on a 2 day arrangement. Lunches, diner, hotel and entrance to the Museum and a tour through the main factory in Sindelfingen are part of this. for us this is a 5 hour drive form The Netherlands to the Stuttgart area. Any suggestions or tips on what to see or do over there are welcome.

The museums are shut on a Monday? They were a few years back!

Consider the Untertürkheim engine factory tour (from the museum) if it fits your schedule.

If you have 2 days you will need that for the museum and the factory visit. The museum is realy beautiful. You start at the top and spiral down to the exit. On the way down you will see some verry interesting Mercedes history. As a kid i spent some time along the test track. Now that is still visible from the museum by the way.

The museum is very good, I really enjoyed it. I went to a Zoo in Stuttgart too I think. The Porsche museum should also be good, but I havnt been. While I was there I also went to Lake Constanz and Neuschwanzstein castle, but they're a bit of a drive away.

The MB and Porsche Museum, the castles around Stuttgart, get out to the tiny little town of Calw, and see Jackie, the owner of the restaurant that is centered in the frame of this map (with the tables out front). It's the greatest little place to eat within an hour of Stuttgart.

You might want to check the schedule for the Mercedes Stadium which is across the street from the Museum. If there is an event the same time you are planning your visit as was the case when we were there last August, traffic can be a nightmare as many streets are closed. We stayed at the Hilton (located between the Porsche arena and the stadium) and it was just a short walk to the museum.

It is well worth the drive. You will love it!

I'm not sure you will have time for much else if you're only there for two days.

With that said, you will probably pass by Speyer on your way. There is an amazing museum there http://speyer.technik-museum.de/ where my family spent half a day looking at and in many aircraft and ships. It is especially wonderful for kids. My son could have spent all day there.

I passed that on my way to Prague last year. Meant to stop on my way back, but got distracted in Nuremberg

Also, here's a link to the restaurant I mentioned in Calw: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Euro-...20591768021806
