MB Stereo Volume Level Indicator?
Why don't MB cars like the C-Class have a volume level indicator on their radios/stereos? I can never tell when I'm getting close to maxing the volume; yes it does get plenty loud. Every make I've ever owned or driven has an indicator that shows how high/low the volume actually is.
Or has somebody found something that I don't know about?

Does it matter? I found it odd when I got my CL that it doesn't show any indication of level, but it helps with my OCD and aversion to odd numbers on the volume readout lol. I actually think it's more fitting of the luxury nature of the car.

This doesn't both me, what does is the fact it comes back on at the same volume when you next start the car. Which if I left it loud, makes me jump. It would be better if they set a mild volume when you start the car and you could adjust it from there, thats what my bimmer does.

I would like an indicator because it's never good for speakers to be played at levels where distortion is happening (probably around 80%). Clipping definitely shortens speaker life.

Recently took delivery of my C250 and was very surprised not to see an indicator. No, it's not that important but it is nice to see where the volume is at.
I also agree the sound should automatically default to a default (user defined in my opinion) level anytime it goes back to radio - from start, from disconnect of telephone, etc. An evening driving home to fun loud music is not necessarily the same level it should be in the morning. Can also damage speakers just starting at the loud level.
