Is Pano roof worth it?

I just learnt that pano roof cuts down the headroom in C300. This bothers me, since I dislike cramped spaces.

1. How much interior space exactly pano roof cuts down.
2. Are the exterior dimensions of a c300 with pano or without pano the same?
3. Is pano really worth it?
4. After all from the inside isn't it really a one additional sunroof added to the rear seating? or there is more to it?

In pictures, I am noticing the rear of a luxury without pano looks more elegant ... I dont know its an evolving feeling ...

For me personally i wouldn't consider the car without the pano roof.
I am not sure of the exterior dimensions. But it does give a little less head room for your back seat passengers... Fortunately its my car and i never sit in the back.
IMO the pano gives the car a more "open" feel.

It cuts down headroom. The front is not a problem for most people, but the back does intrude more. I'm 6'3" and have plenty of room up front, but my hair brushes the roof in the back seat ...where I never sit anyway.

In very hot climates the sunroof can just be too hot to use, but in a moderate climate it is nice and brightens up the interior. The front panel slides back and tilts, the rear panel is fixed.

The value, or lack of it, depends on whether or not you like sunroofs. It is very well done though.

Thanks laz81, StanNH.

So the MB C300 with a Pano roof is really like a Coupe? (god, I hate coupe's - the way their interior feels cramped ... I was a little claustrophobic, and my MB Sprinter has spoiled me even further with a 7 ft interior headroom

Outside of the minimal headroom difference, it's all personal preference. I love the way the black pano roof contrasts with the polar white exterior of the car in my case. I think the car would have a very different, and less appealing to my taste, look if the pano roof was not there. On a black car, it might not make much of a difference either way.

I would have preferred not to have had one put into my car, but I have to have it.

I have gone for the Premium Plus package, as that has all of the extras I want to have, and it also has the pano. As it's a package, it's all or nothing, and you can't just have some of the other things on their own, it has to be through that package.

I'll live with it though

Thanks gnus, HorshamRebel.

I have a vague recollection of my test run how the panoramic looked like on C300. I am checking a youtube for Audi, this one looks very nice - its continious from front to the back - almost like a convertible top,
. Though, I remember, the C300's panoramic moonroof when seen from the inside of the vehicle is really two standard sunroof's one for front passenger and one for the rear. Is that right? I cant seem to find any vid of a C300's pano.

Compared to the alternative...a roof with no opening at all, the Pano roof is worth every penny!

Yeah - I love the look of the Pano roof and use it almost everyday. Driving at night with it open is awesome. My C300 is Palladium and the windows are tinted at 25%. The black top with the Pano contrasts nicely with the Palladium and fits perfectly with the tinted windows.

I'm 6 foot and do not have any headroom issues.

Ok, I see MassC300, so you are saying is: to get some kind of sunroof in C300, the only way is to get the panoramic roof, there is no traditional sunroof in a C300 (as part of standard built or something)?

Thanks mtyson227, and Driver5 for the actual photo of the panoroof, this is really not an end-to-end roof ...

True 101, I am a little puzzled? I see you have on order a 2016 C300 with the Panorama roof but have you not looked at a model equipped with one?
It was a must on our order.

I did, though I didn't see a one without a pano roof. Up till today (reading MassC300 post), I really thought, that there will be a standard sunroof, and then there is a panoramic sunroof. And I only went to dealer once, and during that trip, I was all focused on the driving quality, comparing S to an E-class to a C and didn't quite pay attention to it. But knowing what I know now, I'll keep pano roof on my order. Dealer just told me that my order has gone into yellow, and in few days it will be in red (meaning no more changes ). My vehicle is slated for the 3rd decade of August, so I'm hoping by end of August I'll be driving one!

Great choice, the glass black top exterior will look great on red...

I hope you are right socal400. I am still nervous on the 'silver' 17" wheels though (the grey ones would have looked nice with the black top)

I have the diamond white (yes, $1,500 US more, but I think it's worth it) with the pano top, and I love the contrast of the white body & black top, and, I wish I was 30-40 years younger, because all the comments from the sweet young thangs that they love the look of the car is something I didn't get with my Opel Manta & 1900 . A few guys comment, but mostly young women. And, I'd feel really creepy hitting up on them after they comment. But, maybe that's why they do, I'm "safe".

And, for the heat, I got the 3M crystalize 70% on all windows plus the top, so Memphis in July isn't too bad, now.

lol pek, funny comment, thanks. I bet diamond white would be cool, you should post some pics, would love to see them.

And is this 3M crystalize some kind of tint?

Coming from a BMW Z4 hard top convertible a Pano roof was a must have. I wasn't even considering one without it. My rear passengers LOVE the look of the open roof.

sorry, memory dribbles out my ears any more, it's 3m CRYSTALLINE, they say its a tint, but it blocks uva, uvb & infrared. The 70% has slight tint to it, it actually helps at night, but that may be a placebo effect. Does block enough on cloudy/hazy days I don't need sunglasses, though. Need to give my car a bath before I take pictures, though.

I initially didn't care for the Pano roof but since a regular sunroof was not available I added that option. Now that I have it, I must say it completes the car. If you tint your windows especially on a white car, the dark roof will look like it runs all the way down the back of the car. Looks really cool.

my car has a pano and I would get it again. the pano over the front seat is much larger than a normal sunroof.
I live in a climate with very hot summers and have had no issues with the heat. The pano with the shade open really makes the car feel very light and spacious inside

I think its defo worth it. I use it pretty much everyday. On the other hand i have a problem with at the moment nothing major and also a friend that works at Mercedes said some of them have smashed for no reason whilst being driven. A bit strange but i still love it and recommend it!

Depends where you live, and if you like the look.

Here in Florida, I'd pay extra NOT to have the sunroof.
