Maintenance on new 2015 C300

Guys,
I got my new 2015 C300 almost 2 months ago. The car now has close to 1200 miles. So far, the only thing that I have done to the car is fill gas and wash it a couple of times.

Are there some other things I should be doing? Like checking tire pressure, oil levels etc?

Thanks for your time and advice.

you may want to wax and apply sealant to protect your car..You like modifying cars?

Thanks for quick response. I am actually thinking of applying "Ultima Paint Guard Plus" or do some waxing with Meguiar's products.

No, I am not into modifying cars.

Other than keeping the car nice and clean and putting a nice coat of wax on it, there's really little you need to worry about. Check the tire pressure regularly and your car will tell when it's time for Service A (typically about the 1 year mark).

I thought the car will indicate if the tire pressure is low. Should I still check every month or so?

The TPM system will tell you if the tire pressure is low. But in my opinion that's not enough. Running on tires with less than optimal tire pressure reduces MPG and lessens the useful life of a tire. So yes, check tire pressure regularly.

still check it regularly. to maximize fuel efficiency/economy and less wear on tires too... meguiars is a nice brand or you may want to try pinnacle wax. you can clay your car first then sealed it and wax ..

It's a Mercedes. The car will tell you if you have to check oil, tire pressure, or anything else. Just drive it

Regarding tire pressure, I would check the pressure every 2 or 3 months. The other day, after owning my car for 6 months, the TPMS warning message came on along with the red tire indicator in the dash. Since this was the first time I saw that, I got a little nervous as I was about 30 miles from home. But the center display showed the current tire pressure in each tire, none was lower than 30, but enough to trigger the alarm.

When I got home, after the tires cooled, I put air in them and haven't seen the warning since. I also reset the system to use the current values to monitor the system.

Just saying, if you don't like to get warning while you are driving keep you tire pressure at the recommended pressure.

In my C63 during the winter months I get a warning at 35psi and drove through the entire season ignoring it as it goes back up to 40psi after the tires warm up in 15 minutes or so. There are not many (if any) issues driving on under or over inflated tires for an extended time other than excess tire wear on the outside edges for under inflated and center of tire for over inflated. As long as you're not carrying 5 people and a piano mounted on your roof or speeding around a track you'll be fine.

I agree with all of that, but I had been driving for 30 minutes when the warning light came on. Plus if you don't air the tires, you will get the warning message every time you start the car.

Exactly. I don't know why someone would wait for the tire pressure to be too low. Keep the tires happily filled with air, get better gas mileage and enjoy longer tread life. It's like the Staples "Easy Button!"

Every week or so I pull up the tpms display on the multifunction display. If its less than 32psi I check and service the pressure the next morning (cold).

No one is mentioning about checking the engine oil. I did my first check after 1400 miles and the dip stick was bone dry. I had to put a litre in just to get to the bottom of the dip stick plus a futher top up to get the level to the top marker. Time will tell if I have damaged to the engine.

Holy cow, Luton, thanks for the reminder. For sure, engine oil is much more important than tire pressure.

As a result of your post I'm going to get off my skinny *** right NOW and check my oil, at about 900 miles.

I recall a notation in the manual stating engine oil consumption could be as much as almost a quart in 600 miles. Perhaps we should pay attention to this info.

With a seven quart crankcase but two quarts low, I'm guessing no damage unless you drove the vehicle to RAF Lossiemouth and back...at speed.

Sometimes engine oil consumption can be higher in a new motor depending on break-in protocol.

FWIW, I check the oil in my vehicles weekly. I almost never need to add any but it's one of those habits I learned while driving beaters when I was younger.

You're thinking BMW. My C300 has a dip stick, my wife's 2014 328i does not.

Just over 7,000 miles on my car now, oil level is still on full.

Check everything. In the everyday rush of life, overlooking is human error. Check everything.

Seal the paint with Natty's blue or Mequire Black paste.

Keep it garaged, never park under a tree.

And for the professional finish, go on Amazon and buy a 4 layer cover with lock and cable all for under $50. And use it.

25 years later my '91 300sl new like new.

Best of luck sir😎

06 E class does not have a dip stick either, done by sensor with dash warnings, and oil level can be monitored while driving.
