Burning smell

Got home yesterday evening and it was really noticeable that the engine bay had a strong burning smell.

I hadn't been pushing the car or driving at any great speed. I was in eco mode the whole time.

There is also a nasally type sound when accelerating, which wasn't there originally so not sure if it could be linked.

Any thoughts?

Check if there is any oil on the engine that will burn off, also check the colour of your exhaust. Might be it was topped up too much... Hopefully

Is it a diesel? If so, its just done a DPF regen cycle while you were driving. Nothing to worry about, and if you track your fuel consumption, you'll see a drop in mpg on that tankful. Mine seems to do them every couple of thousand miles.

Looking at his "Drives", it's a C250, so IS a diesel

Given he was in Switzerland, I wasn't sure if there might have been a petrol available.

EQC 4matic AMG line Premium Plus replacing S213 220d 4matic with airmatic
Have also experienced this a week ago but car was on a short run on narrow country lanes with an average speed of 60 to 70kph for about 5 to 8mins.......but i was not sure the om651 eu6 engine used a regenerative dpf?

you were exactly right. I asked Merecedes to take a look and they confirmed it was a DPF regen
