PM me the PO number, lets figure out where your ride is and what route it took to get there.
I'll do that. Thanks so much!

So the GLA's either in Germany, or on a ship heading to the US, but I nor they seem to have any clue where it is. It's just built and sitting somewhere.

To be honest, I'm just so friggin frustrated, that after telling my salesguy, I was Pi$$ed, I just told him to maybe call me when they're ready to sell both cars. In the meantime, my C just sits on the roof of the dealership. And I'm just going to wait. They need to come to me instead of me going to them. It makes me look desperate and that's not a good negotiating stance. Not it's not!
This has to be the ONLY industry that doesn't have an EXACT track on delivery of goods. I was told my car would come in "any day now" for two weeks before it arrived (from Tuscaloosa). They had no clue where it was. I get a package from Amazon and I know every stop on-route to my door. Go figure!

Yes, very inaccurate and frustrating.

Thanks to ViperShade as he was able to go into NetStar and see that the car was indeed built in Germany and is now sitting at the port there waiting to be assigned to a ship for its journey across the big pond. Sad that my dealer wasn't able to tell me this.

And my C class arrived way earlier than expected. Go figure.........

Yeah, I had about 100 miles on the runflats before making the switch and after the switch I drove about 250 miles, and I would definitely say that the ride quality is now better. I am going to take it out today and ride the exact same roads that I drove to put the original hundred miles on and see how the handling is (I was driving some really nicely winding roads that I am really interested to see how the new tires do).

Viper, seeing as yours is a pretty recent build, do you mind looking and seeing what version of the Command maps you have?

When in Navigation Mode:

Go to -> Options (Bottom left corner)
Go to -> Map Content
Go to -> Map Version

Is it different than "2014/2015 (V4.0) N.AMERICA"? Thanks for looking!

Interested in the tire feedback as the DWS is what I'm considering to replace the run flats with for all season. Going to source a second set of wheels for some PS2 tires next spring though

I wish they made the DWS 06 in the 18' size, I had the last gen DWS on my previous GTI and I liked them. I'm probably going to have to go with Pzero AS plus

Oh damn... I didn't think about the Pzero AS Plus. I had the A/S 3 on my MK6 and really really liked them.

Also, DWS 06 in 18": http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....S06XL&i3_Qty=2

youre right, they do make the 06 in 18" but the load ratings are incorrect. that's why if you go on tirerack and select c300 with sport 18's the 06's aren't listed

One of the Mercedes' master mechanics told me that European versions of the HUD display, use cameras to capture the speed limit information; however, US regulation (yet again) prohibit the use of cameras I'm still trying to confirm that. Also, it was a bit of an ordeal to find anyone at the dealership who could explain the 450's 4Matic mechanics. Finally, they hooked me up with their "AMG guru" who was quite informative.

Hopefully, things went well with your test drive and you had some time to test this out...

Viper, I thanks for all that info. Fwiw, BMW uses both its nav data base and a camera for its speed limit info (I had it on my F10 M5), so the "US regulation" comment is bogus. As a side-note, I've been pretty surprised about how much the Merc sales people don't know about their cars. The person I've been working with first told me that the C63 was available with 4Matic and then told me that the upgraded nappa leather included a leather dash as well as leather on the door tops, and also included cooled front seats. I had to set her straight on all those things (and she claimed to have been selling Mercs for seven years!). Also, it was quite an ordeal to find someone at the dealership who could explain the 450's 4Matic mechanism. They finally hooked me up with their "AMG guru" who was quite informative.

I have now driven the C450 twice and am very, very impressed with the car. It's a far different experience than the C300 and C400, but I'm still torn between it, the new-ish 340xi and the upcoming B9 S4. In many respects, I don't think the 340 is a match for either of the other two, but it'll give me at least one more car with a MT which I've had in every car I've owned for the past 35+ years. On the other hand, I have a feeling that the S4 will be a show-stopper when it's introduced next year. I'm going to look at the 340 this weekend, but I'm thinking that I'm going to sit on my hands for a while until I get a chance to see the S4.

Lovely C450. Congratulations.

What is the code for the diamond grill or is that the 2016 default grill?

There is actually a number of reasons why Mercedes' camera speed limit acquisition implementation could be regulated in the US while the BMW implementation passes regulations. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility just because one manufacture's design was deemed acceptable. I haven't seen any proof one way or the other, all that I know is that I have been told that it works on BMWs in the US, and it works on Mercedes' outside of the US. If it is camera based, it might be reliant on the 360-camera installation. What cameras are used in the BMW? Are these cameras multi-use? (do they do anything besides take pictures of speed limit signs?)

Thx man... the grill is actually the standard grill on the 450, this thread might shed some light on the part number: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ille-w205.html

The BMW camera is in the windshield ahead of the rear-view mirror. I'm not sure if it has other functions as well. Fwiw, I recall that BMW's system was introduced in the US after its European introduction. If I remember, it took longer to complete the North American data base of signage to compare to the camera images. MB could be doing the same thing.

As an aside, I once drove across the Canadian border in my M5 and before I switched my displays to kilometers, I drove past a 90 km/h speed limit sign. The car immediately displayed a 60 mph sign in the HUD. I loved that!

7yr/75K ELW

Three days from the 30 day 15% discount cutoff, I gave Marc Rose a call from W.I. Simonson Mercedes-Benz in Santa Monica, CA. The call took less than 10 minutes and I walked away with a $550 discount on the ELW price that I was quoted during delivery. I would say that that 10 minute call was well worth it.

I would highly recommend giving Marc a call. Here is his contact info:

Marc D. Rose
Finance Manager
W.I. Simonson Mercedes-Benz
1626 Wilshire Boulevard
Santa Monica, CA 90403

Marc.Rose@wisimonson.com

T: 310/829-4511
F: 310/264-4891
C: 818/266-4305

(Hint: make sure you call him during normal (Pacific time) business hours...)

I also went with the 4yr pre-paid maintenance, for $50 off of the MBUSA price. That will be a little tighter to cover the cost but it should be pretty close. Here are the parts required for the 450 over 4 years:

Mobil 1 Oil:
$6/quart (x28)
Oil Filter:
276-180-00-09 (x4)
Cabin Filter:
205-835-01-47 (x2)
Dust Filter:
166-830-02-18 (x2)
Wiper Blades:
205-820-57-00 (x2)

Make sure you get a quote from your dealer before calling him, then you will feel really good after the call

It's rare to feel good after talking to someone in the car business, but that was definitely the case after talking to Marc... If I had something else to buy, I would have talked to him about it (he was telling me how they do car sales across the country).

(That really sucks about the GLA... I hope it shows up soon).

It's supposed to show up at the port in Georgia, just north of Jacksonville on Thursday. How long it will take to make a 5 hour trip from there to here though, is anyone's guess. Supposedly, a truck has to be full enough to warrant heading south.

I've tentatively taken Friday, November 6th off to take delivery of both the C and GLA. At least the C has been tinted with nano window tint as it sits in the sun on the dealers roof waiting for me.......

I will get a quote from my dealer. Since I probably won't like it, I may just call Mark while I'm in the room at the closing table. That would be fun!

Can we assume that the ELW will pretty much be the same price for all C450 ? If so do you mind sharing what the price is or PM me? Thanks.

Yes, it seems like eternity. But in fairness, those who ordered the C350e deserve trophies for the patience they've show.

I spoke with my salesguy this afternoon. I told him if the car does indeed arrive in the US on Thursday, there is no excuse for it being here for delivery next week. I suggested he have both cars ready at 1:00 P on the 6th as that's when we'll be there to take delivery. That will give them a full week and a day to get the car 5 hours south of the VPC.
