and then some...
PM me the PO number, lets figure out where your ride is and what route it took to get there.

That's all they said. Well not quite. They kept trying to tell me my car was built in Alabama. They even went so far as to say, they saw GLA's being built on the assembly like in Tuscaloosa. I had to go to the dealer and show them the sticker on inside of a GLA door which clearly shows they're manufactured in Germany. So the GLA's either in Germany, or on a ship heading to the US, but I nor they seem to have any clue where it is. It's just built and sitting somewhere.
To be honest, I'm just so friggin frustrated, that after telling my salesguy, I was Pi$$ed, I just told him to maybe call me when they're ready to sell both cars. In the meantime, my C just sits on the roof of the dealership. And I'm just going to wait. They need to come to me instead of me going to them. It makes me look desperate and that's not a good negotiating stance. Not it's not!
Thanks to ViperShade as he was able to go into NetStar and see that the car was indeed built in Germany and is now sitting at the port there waiting to be assigned to a ship for its journey across the big pond. Sad that my dealer wasn't able to tell me this.
And my C class arrived way earlier than expected. Go figure.........

I'm still trying to confirm that. Also, it was a bit of an ordeal to find anyone at the dealership who could explain the 450's 4Matic mechanics. Finally, they hooked me up with their "AMG guru" who was quite informative.Hopefully, things went well with your test drive and you had some time to test this out...
Viper, I thanks for all that info. Fwiw, BMW uses both its nav data base and a camera for its speed limit info (I had it on my F10 M5), so the "US regulation" comment is bogus. As a side-note, I've been pretty surprised about how much the Merc sales people don't know about their cars. The person I've been working with first told me that the C63 was available with 4Matic and then told me that the upgraded nappa leather included a leather dash as well as leather on the door tops, and also included cooled front seats. I had to set her straight on all those things (and she claimed to have been selling Mercs for seven years!). I have now driven the C450 twice and am very, very impressed with the car. It's a far different experience than the C300 and C400, but I'm still torn between it, the new-ish 340xi and the upcoming B9 S4. In many respects, I don't think the 340 is a match for either of the other two, but it'll give me at least one more car with a MT which I've had in every car I've owned for the past 35+ years. On the other hand, I have a feeling that the S4 will be a show-stopper when it's introduced next year. I'm going to look at the 340 this weekend, but I'm thinking that I'm going to sit on my hands for a while until I get a chance to see the S4.

The BMW camera is in the windshield ahead of the rear-view mirror. I'm not sure if it has other functions as well. Fwiw, I recall that BMW's system was introduced in the US after its European introduction. If I remember, it took longer to complete the North American data base of signage to compare to the camera images. MB could be doing the same thing.
As an aside, I once drove across the Canadian border in my M5 and before I switched my displays to kilometers, I drove past a 90 km/h speed limit sign. The car immediately displayed a 60 mph sign in the HUD. I loved that!
I would highly recommend giving Marc a call. Here is his contact info:

I also went with the 4yr pre-paid maintenance, for $50 off of the MBUSA price. That will be a little tighter to cover the cost but it should be pretty close. Here are the parts required for the 450 over 4 years:

It's rare to feel good after talking to someone in the car business, but that was definitely the case after talking to Marc... If I had something else to buy, I would have talked to him about it (he was telling me how they do car sales across the country).
(That really sucks about the GLA... I hope it shows up soon).

I've tentatively taken Friday, November 6th off to take delivery of both the C and GLA. At least the C has been tinted with nano window tint as it sits in the sun on the dealers roof waiting for me.......
I will get a quote from my dealer. Since I probably won't like it, I may just call Mark while I'm in the room at the closing table. That would be fun!

I spoke with my salesguy this afternoon. I told him if the car does indeed arrive in the US on Thursday, there is no excuse for it being here for delivery next week. I suggested he have both cars ready at 1:00 P on the 6th as that's when we'll be there to take delivery. That will give them a full week and a day to get the car 5 hours south of the VPC.
