SLIME Kit with Runflats

Is there any reason a SLIME (or equivalent) kit wouldn't work with runflats?

I'm still not crazy about the idea of runflat tires, especially the logistics and potential cost of replacing them after a flat if I'm not right near my home. But the ride isn't so bad (IMHO) that I need to replace them with conventional tires right now.

Assuming I'm no-where near home (I take frequent road trips) when I get a flat, my thinking is that if I can add slime to the tire to plug a tread-based leak/nailhole without riding a substantial distance on the tire sidewalls, I could get the tire home where I can shop for a reasonably priced replacement (or maybe even get the tire fixed)... rather than be at the mercy of the first tire facility I find.

Is there a reason why this approach wouldn't make sense? I would think that runflats would be no worse than patched (meaning slimed) conventional tires if you don't run on the sidewall. Am I missing something obvious?

I have similar concerns as yourself.

Hope someone on this board has the answer.

Steve, I've spoken with several people who had their runflats plugged (is that what is meant by slime?) until they could replace the tire. If that's what you mean, I see no reason why you couldn't feel just fine in the interim.

Ensure if you go the "Slime" route, you purchase the TMPS sensor safe sealant.

The tyre inflation & sealant route with runflats is acceptable as long as you adhere to all other precautions, do minimal mileage, observe speed recommendations & replace the tyre. Runflats should never be repaired as there is no way to check the carcass for damage & a dangerous blowout could occur at any time.

....the recommendation varies between tyre manufacturers; both Bridgestone and Goodyear state that they can be repaired, Pirelli does not recommend

Can I repair a punctured Bridgestone Runflat tyre?

Can RunOnFlat tyres be repaired?

Can I repair punctured Pirelli?
