Does anyone know why the companion app wouldn't connect with cars built before October 1, 2015?

I was excited about trying it, but turns out my c450 was built on September 22nd, so it's "not supported" so says my dealership. Not thrilled to find out my NEW 2016 car is already out-of-date and can't be retrofitted.

Thanks for the info hagel.
Make sure you read the full description of the app!
It will only work on cars manufactured with a build date of 10/2/15 or later which pretty much means like .01% of the people on this forum have.

Just read all the negative reviews from the app and they all say it does not work, but I'm betting none of them read the full description of the app besides Hagel

"A seamless integration unfolds: providing walking directions to the car on the Apple Watch, driving directions on the vehicle navigation system and again walking directions on the Apple Watch from the car to the final destination."

Thanks for that link. It seems like an iWatch version of what we now have with Send2Benz ... except for the walking directions to and from the car. I always send navigation directions to the car with my iPhone ... one of the most useful and easiest to use features of MBrace.

Yeah, I was one of those commenting it didn't work, until I noticed the 10/2/15 build date

My issue is, what would change "mid-cycle" (October 2nd) that wouldn't allow older cars to be update with just a software flash. I took my car into the dealership and was told that this feature couldn't be retrofitted into my vehicle (which was built Sept. 22nd)! I wonder what other features we're missing out on that hasn't been uncovered yet?!?

Probably nothing any of us who had cars built before 10-2 can do about this. My car was built 9-25. And all Mercedes has to say is:

"Specifications and Design Subject to Change" which is pretty standard in today's world.

According to this, any C Class made after 9/2014 doesn't need the adapter to use this app.

So it's only for Apple Watch and not for other iDevices?

No, it's for the iPhone and Apple Watch. Mainly offers a great way to send address info to the car. You can quickly send address from any iOS app via the share widget. You also get other info about the car on the phone / watch.

I had issues with my original car, so the dealer swapped it out for a different car. The original car didn't have it (sept build date) the new car (nov. build date) does. I've only had the car 2 days, but have already found the app helpful in quickly sending addresses to the car.

The app is pretty awesome I use it daily. It's extremely fast to send addresses to your car.

Does anyone have the issue where the app wants to connect and then RE-CONNECT each time the auto start stop is activated? It's extremely annoying that at every long light, the car shuts off, either the BT connection to the car must shut off, and then I keep getting the re-connected to xyz_iphone and then the command app requires another approval..
can't one simply approve for all time and why would the phone disconnect during start stop?

Quick update: brought my car in for service for another unrelated issue so asked about this. They updated Command and now it works!

My car was built 9/2015 as an FYI.

As it says if you check this link: https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/mer...ivity/adapter/

"Step 2:
To use the Mercedes me Adapter you also need the accompanying app on your smartphone. You can download the Mercedes me Adapter App from Apple’s App Store or from the Google Play Store. "

I am curious. I have not received my new car yet so i cant check this but in some movie i have seen about mercedes-me he was changing the temperature of the car.

How does that work if you want the car cooler a warm day? Does it start the car or is that just movie candy as usual?

I don't think there is a way to change the temperature alone, but one can remote start the car and it will adjust the temperature back to whatever the last temp setting was..

and that is with the mbrace app, and not the regular companion app. the companion app is actually somewhat limited. At least with a C class..

maybe the new E and current S will and do offer more functionality?

there was some talk of some enhanced functionality coming out in Europe later in the year though, I think it was a plug in to the OBDB port and added a few extra features to mercedes me.
