Its my understanding that Apple CarPlay will only be available on the lower trim level C300's that are missing the 8.4" command screen. So, you didn't necessarily miss out.
Starting with Fall Production dates - dealer can give you most recent updated info - you cna choose to order CarPlay/AAuto and No COMAND - or order COMAND and no Smartphone integration

The dealer tells me I am up to date - but I am unclear if that is the case.
The dealership is New Country Mercedes in Hartford Connecticut. My appointment is this Friday, August 4th. I'll let you know how it goes.

My COMAND Maps were updated today from version 7.0 2016 North America to version 10 2017/2018 North America. Version 10 is the most recent North America update available.

I’ve had a day to use my new version 10 2017/2018 map update. What I immediately noticed was the different background colors used. The background is either gray or green with white letters for street names. It seems that the gray is used around population centers but I’m not really sure why the two different colors are used. The contrast between the gray background and white letters make street names difficult to read. Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea why two colors are used for the background or what the difference means. If I change the display to night mode, the contrast is better but the display is too dark in the daylight.

I have noticed the color changes too. It is paler than what i was used to. Looks like they used a different color scheme. I don't have a problem with the street names though.
Maybe they are aligning the color scheme with Here. The Navi software from Nokia they bought together with BMW and Audi.

Does the update have any more POIs? My version has almost none. It doesn't have any churches, and I frequently visit different churches. I can't count on it to have a given restaurant. When I need navigation, I pretty much have to look up the street address of each destination before leaving the house.

Yeah I have noticed the same thing. The day colors are terrible...white on light gray? They are honesty so bad I'm wondering if there was a mistake when the maps were pushed to production.

The letters are white but they have a black outline and also some shading. I don't have any problems reading the map.
I must admit, that I prefer the old color scheme though.
I just got the map update to V11 (North America). As usual, it took two trips to the dealer to get it done. I don't know why this is so hard. When I picked up the car the paperwork said that it was updated. But of course when I checked the version, it was still on V7. So now I have to bring it back and find a supervisor that knows what he is doing. The graphics on this map are really terrible.

Thanks for reminding me to get this done as my 3 years of free map updates are up in June. I, like you and so many others, always have to convince my SA that there is truly an update for the maps and there is a 50/50 chance that it actually gets done the first time. You say the graphics are terrible? Hard to imagine how they could be any worse.
The color scheme is horrible. White letters and white street lines on light gray background. Night mode is okay. I regret getting the update for this ugly and hard to see colors in the day time. You think MB and their great resource and design department would have someone actually approved this color scheme. SMH.
I just had a B Service completed and they finally updated my maps. So I jumped from version 6.1 to 11.0 (2018)
I don't think we have much we can do to combat the visual appearance of the maps, but if you do prefer the night maps over the day maps, you can set night maps to always be on in your Comand settings.
