w205 ac/climate control

I bought a new c 300 recently and i simply can't figure out the difference between climate control and having the AC turned on .
1. without turning the AC toggle on , i can adjust the temperature from cold to hot air blow. what is the point of the AC button then ? also fan stops working if i turn off climate control . what does that mean ?

2. the fan takes like a minute before it starts blowing air after i start the car. Even though i set it to blow straight to my face it starts blowing on my legs first and then after a minute adjusts to my setting . Is this normal ?

1. its the same as in any car. climate control is just what the system is called, and a/c button turns the a/c on or off.

2. yes

Climate Control means you can set the desired temperature, and the car will automatically use its heating/cooling (A/C) systems to achieve that temperature. So the A/C itself is one component part. Cars without Climate may still have A/C but you manage temperature manually (by turning off when you get too hot/cold!)

You can still use Climate with the A/C switched off (ie - my wife gets sinus pain in cars with A/C running) - but the best it can do is circulate fresh air around.

Hope this helps.

The A/C also takes moisture out of the inside air and reduces condensation on the glass. In cooler weather, and after the car is warm, I will sometimes turn it off for a while to help improve fuel economy a bit.

I have to disagree with topsider on #2. This is not normal as far as I know. I have discussed this with the dealer because I think it's a software glitch. I have an issue where the fans will take anywhere from 3-5 minutes to start blowing any air at all in the cabin, regardless of whether the engine is warm or cold. What i've found is that if you shut the fans off either before you turn the car off or when you first turn it on, then there is a huge time delay. If you leave the fans running when you shut the car off and don't touch them then it's fine. Definitely a software issue based on the inconsistency.

if its hot out, and the a/c was blowing from main circular vents last time i was driving, it will start out blowing out the main vents. I was sort of referring to if its chilly out like it is in the northeast now and the auto function primarily blows out air using the windshield vents and the floor vents, and then for example i set it to max front window defrost, it will blow out at max pressure on the floor (because thats part of what the previous setting was) before the mechanism switches fully and it switches to max window defrost. my previous cars have all been the same, even with my GTI which didnt have auto climate control.

Something that I have noticed though is that if the air isnt really blowing out because the system does not sense it needs to due to temperature or whatever, I hear the mechanisms moving, it sounds like its coming from the far left and far right circular vents, especially hear it when auto-start stop is active when the car is stopped, and the temperature is similar to what i have it set to.

Well I should probably backtrack a bit and say that there may be some kind of function to delay the fans or whatever on a cold engine but mine does it when the engine is warm also. In addition to that i've had times where I start the car on a cold morning and it immediately begins blowing cold air, so I know I have some sort of problem because the behavior is so erratic.

Very strange behaviour of the dealership. Especially Mercedes dealership.
At number 2: there is an option in the menu for climate control where you can set the air flow type. Watch my video for fun Hope you guys like it

Related question ... windshield defrost. Is there a way to adjust the fan speed and temperature? When I turn it on -- works great -- but the fan is very high and dont want to drive like this. The alternative is to do a quick defog; turn off; wait for it to fog again; turn it on; repeat.

I'm assuming you're using the windshield defrost button, which defaults to max. Just use the vent select button to choose the defroster and adjust your fan speed.

agreed. also, my defrost fan at max speed creates a vibration i can feel through steering wheel, very similar sound to as if engine running consistently at 3k rpm. annoying

A/c won’t come on

Hello, I’m facing this problem on c63 w205 the AC won’t come on after I stop the defrost button. It does come on if I push the button alone but I remember it used come on after I do the defrost.

I usually leave the ac off when I drive so that’s what I notice that didn’t come on after defrost.

does anyone experience that?

Can anybody answer why MB discontinued the M264 engine after 3 years in circulation. I have a 2021 C300 AMG line sport coupe which is the last years for the M264. I’m aware of the problems with the M274 MB engine. Is this the same problem, cracked piston? Damm I hope not.

The cylinder heads are problematic.
