So since a recent software update I've had an issue with linguatronic, specifically if I announce 'free POI search' or 'POI by name' I get 'Free POI search for United Kingdom not possible' and then COMAND displays a list of categories instead.

Thing is, if I state the country after either command such as 'POI by name in France' or even the same country 'POI by name in United Kingdom' the system will then perform a search.

This did not Happen until the software was recently updated (to try and resolve some Navi volume issues).

Can UK users with COMAND please try the above commands (not on Garmin/Audio 20 systems please) and post their result and build date/if they've had a software update and when. I'm trying to get the dealer to address this but they're stalling and I'd like to know if this is an issue with mine or others with more recent build cars or indeed older build cars.

 

Does England (instead of United Kingdom) get recognized by the system?

 

No, United Kingdom only, no England or Great Britain etc

The odd thing is that if I state POI by name it brings up UK in the display and then says it can't search UK. But if I state POI by name in the United Kingdom as one phrase it then will search fine!?

 

Dumb question perhaps, but when they updated the software on your Comand, is it possible you're not set up to the country you live in?

 

Well the Nav shows UK on all manual searches.

If I bring up address input and choose France as the country and then use linguatronic 'POI by name' it auto searches France. If I then manually set UK and try the same it says not possible. Very odd.

 

Sounds like they programmed a bug in your system.

 

The update may have split the two into different instructions, so it could be that is how it works post update, although I doubt it. Ring them up and report it as a bug.

Personally I get the post code or Road/number before hand to anywhere I want to go and tell Command that. I have never trusted POIs in all the years I have been using Sat Navs.


I always like to see the various route(s) on a map before hand as well, so I have an idea of where I'm going before getting in the car.


Once, an old sat nav got us to our hotel in Brugges, and we had to ask where we were in the city as we had no idea

 

So ultimately they replaced the entire comand core. It made no difference. I can't believe this feature wasn't tested before launch in the uk.

 

can you change country to another and then back to UK as a test? I would switch off/on the system after each step.
