Lowering the noise floor

Auto volume is not "increasing the volume slider," it is compressing the dynamic range. The loud passages stay the same. Otherwise, the loud passages will be louder than desired, and the effect of ambient noise is negligible in the loud passages. It is boosting the soft passages so they can be heard more clearly over the ambient noise. Soft passages boosted + loud passages the same = diminished dynamic range.

That is why getting rid of my wind noise problem is important to me. My car is in the shop for that now. The noise is quite soft. I have to listen for it to hear it over the audio system (and it is pure white noise). So the noise itself doesn't bother me. However, it degrades the sound of my Burmester system, especially since I have the auto volume turned off. Even with the wind noise, my C300 is so quiet that I don't need the auto volume. When the noise problem is fixed, the noise floor will be that much lower.

I found it! It is under vehicle/system settings. I'll try to post some photos once they come down from the iCloud.

Speed Sensitive Volume Issues

In my car the volume automatically adjusts to uncomfortable levels when the car gains speed and becomes exceedingly quiet whenever the car is stopped. The volume will not ever remain constant, which is extremely annoying, especially in stop-and-go traffic. The variation in volume occurs regardless of whether the "Automatic Volume Adjustment" box in the vehicle settings menu is deselected.

Have any other W205 C-Class owners with the Burmeister stereo experienced this problem?
