My 2015 C300 4Matic (2014 Dec built) COMAND. Can it be updated to 2016 one? I really want to turn off the touch pad.
Also, has anyone here done an ECU upgrade? I am very very happy with the C300 but wish there was a little more punch. I wonder if makes a noticeable difference.
My understanding form my dealer is that COMAND software can be updated, but they won't do it unless there is a problem that an update would correct, at least not under warranty. I didn't ask if I could pay for an update.

I had mine updated as a poor attempt at correcting the speaker rattle issue particularly evident when using the Bluetooth telephone option. I think it blunted the base and had no other noticeable effect on the rest of the command system. I have not tried to turn off the touch pad and wouldn't know if I could. I personally wouldn't do it again but if you really want yours updated make up a complaint about the audio quality and the dealer will find the update as a fix.

Is this with the Burmester sound system? Mine kind of rattle as well...

Yeah, doesn't help. I'm not sure if there is an official fix yet but I have had doors replaced, center speaker, and both front tweeters replaced and it still happens. Truly disappointing. I still love my car but rattles drive me nuts.
I have a problem with the A/C blower switch not working from A/C turned off. It worked fine on the 2016 loaner. I will ask the service adviser for an update and tell him I read it on a MB fora. Thank you guys.

There is a bulletin on sw update for 2015, (not update TO 2016) but it usually has to have a reason. Dealers are limited and are specifically instructed to not update unless there is a problem. Just because they look the same the head units are not necessarily identical.
I have the latest flashware in my 15, not possible to turn off the touch pad.
Well that's annoying to find out - no disclaimer on the MB owners guide either that this is only for 2016 cars.
Not that I'm a gambling man, but I would've put money on the fact that a software update would give you the same as what the current 2016 line has. Have you got the performance pages (Driving Dynamics > Vehicle data and Engine data menus)?
Surely this is just software features (i.e. no dependency or linkage to other more modern hardware components)

I don't know much but mine gives me the option to turn it off:
Vic, next time you have a 2016 car in the hangar and hooked up to Xentry, can you confirm what control unit variant they've got?
My 2015 on the A40/9 (COU[ZBE]) module is reporting variant CTRLC205_Series_003
Hardware version 13/17 000
Software version 14/10 002
A26/17 (COMAND) is reporting variant HU5_HU5_High_America_ECE_RoW_S205
Hardware version 13/39 001
Software version 14/21 005, 14/38 000
If that letter which Popcrnchiken posted is accurate, we should see a different ECU variant for the 2016 cars, in which case the firmware could also be different .. or am I missing something with that logic?
Must have been drunk last time I checked, but I looked at the settings when driving to work this morning and yes, i can confirm that you CAN turn off the touch pad on a 2015 with the newest FW.
However I cannot confirm that US FW is the same.

Phew.. that's good
Can you confirm which module had to be flashed - was it A26/17, A40/9 or both?
